The Earth has entered a "new period of extinction", a study by three US universities concludes, and humans could be among the first casualties.

Since 1900, the report says, more than 400 more vertebrates had disappeared. We humans,  the smartes vertebrates are already ' walking  Extincts'. We have no backbone to take decision to conserve the nature.

The only legacy of the previous government that India’s Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar carries with him is the name of the building from which he operates - Indira Prayavaran Bhavan (Indira Environment House).  Everything else about him portrays a refreshingly stark Indian aspirations and sculpting of a new heritage of environmental governance.

There is much talk about innovation in technology and innovation in policies for India’s inclusive growth. The new government’s environment ministry also needs innovation in its environmental diplomacy.

We now need financial engineering after spending  finances on engineering the climate change . Fossil fuel divestment movement enters its fourth year, nearly a third of the 28 schools that signed on have completely purged oil, natural gas and coal investments from their endowment portfolios.

The global warming that has already occurred as a result of human emissions has quadrupled the frequency of certain heat extremes since the Industrial Revolution, scientists reported Monday, and they warned that a failure to bring greenhouse gases under control could eventually lead to a 62-fold increase in such heat blasts.

The UNEP?WMO  assessment of Ozone layer recovery report developed by 300 scientists from 36 countries says that ozone layer is on recovery path. Unique success for global environment. But we can accelerate the recovery by 11 years!.

Amazing example, of how 196 countries continue to find even more success for Ozone layer recovery , while same countries are engaged in the wordy debate over climate change issues.

Orders are now coming from Judges to the Government to cut GHG emissions . A court in the Netherlands orders the government to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 25% by 2020, in a class action suit launched by activists.

Looks like this is the way to go on climate change. Kyoto lacked the teeth to punish those who do not meet the committed reduction. Hope Court in the Netherlands imposes punishment if the target is not achieved.

The wars and conflicts in 21st century appear to be sectarian but deeper study shows that it's core causative origin is in climate change. UN needs to convene a group of social and climate experts to assess such conflicts.

The target of temperature rise is 2 deg cent or lower. If the world does not meet that target by pledging GHG emission reduction, then Paris meeting will be one of those ' hype in the beginning and feel good at the end'. The process goes on…….as usual.
