Chivas Regal Presents: Live With Chivalry: Barman - YouTube

arlkes

Patrick Dsouza's insight:

A very good ad designed for the millennial - and the barman!. Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) is fantastic, and the script itself focuses on the eternal  theme - generosity of spirit.

Who Is Drinking All the (Real) Scotch Whisky?

Who Is Drinking All the (Real) Scotch Whisky? | Our Shout | Scoop.it
“ The US, the world’s leading importer, ships in nearly £800 million ($1.32 billion) worth of the spirit each year. But per capita consumption looks quite different.”
Patrick Dsouza's insight:
Singapore drinks 13 bottles of scotch per capita per year. Americans, by comparison, drink half a bottle per year and the French drink 2.5 bottles. Note while the data is romantic it could be misleading. For example, it's based on whisky imports - Singapore is a huge duty free market - therefore the actual drinkers of Scotch may not be Singaporeans but people passing through!

Staffer Alastair Furnival had links to alcohol industry, helped strip funding from group minimising alcohol harm

Staffer Alastair Furnival had links to alcohol industry, helped strip funding from group minimising alcohol harm | Our Shout | Scoop.it
A lobbyist working in Assistant Health Minister Fiona Nash's office had links to the alcohol industry and played a key role in stripping Australia's peak drug and alcohol body of its funding.
Patrick Dsouza's insight:

Increasingly we observe that any company or individual masking truth or acting in interests contrary to those of the customer will be found out. The mind boggles as to why Furnival would even consider stripping australias peak body of funding given the evemt sof Kings Cross as late as Dec 2014! 90 people have died there needlessly in the last ten years due to alcohol overindulgence!

Why do people get drunk? South Bank University builds a mock pub for students to find out

Why do people get drunk? South Bank University builds a mock pub for students to find out | Our Shout | Scoop.it
A University has spent £20,000 building a mock pub for students to investigate why people get drunk.
Patrick Dsouza's insight:

I thought this was a marvellous idea that the alcohol industry should have had the foresight to invest in - not a bloody university. All the same it is a great idea now that we know 'drink responsibly' ads don't curb drinking - they encourage it - see detail in article.

Heineken Debuts ‘Dance More, Drink Slow’ Alcohol Moderation Campaign With Armin van Buuren

Heineken Debuts ‘Dance More, Drink Slow’ Alcohol Moderation Campaign With Armin van Buuren | Our Shout | Scoop.it
As more and more corporate brands begin to sponsor EDM culture and festivals, a dual focus on responsible marketing is in order. Heineken, a pioneering sponsor of EDM events like Ultra and music festivals like Coachella, took this to heart and today debuted “Dance More, Drink Slow,” a global campaign designed to promote moderation over excess featuring EDM superstar Armin van Buuren as its face and spokesperson.
Patrick Dsouza's insight:

Great move by Heineken. I dont think it will work unless accompanied by more behaviourally led initiatives, but it's a step (all those dance puns coming through) in the right direction - and signposts much needed intent from the alcohol industry.
