WSIS Knowledge Communities: Mainstreaming the use of Open Educational Practices (OEP) will really transform education | ORIOLE project | Scoop.it

The OPAL project (http://www.oer-quality.org/ ) has examined the concept of open educational practices (OEP) over the last two years. Not come across this before. It's a tool which recognises that although CC licenses are non-revokable they are also sometimes edited after the fact. This date stamps the conditions at the time you acquired the image. Not sure whether I am orgnised enough to use it, but a good idea?

Reflections on the Jorum Final Report

Posted by Frank Manistaon 10th October 2011

The Jorum Final Report was signed off by JISC and is now available: it outlines the history and development of Jorum from its inception in 2002 noting the 'curious' split between those who use Jorum regularly and those who know nothing about it ... [Those in th UK will know that JISC mandates deposit of linking of project resources into Jorum which makes its a rich repository of OER as a result of theUKOER programme.

Hal Plotkin Releases Free to Learn: An Open Educational Resources Policy Development Guidebook for Community College Governance Officials - Creative Commons | ORIOLE project | Scoop.it

From: Timothy Vollmer, October 1st, 2010 [note 2010 date so not recent but I have only just looked at this one... also note that Plotkin is a journallist so it reads well)

Yesterday Hal Plotkin announced the release of Free to Learn: An Open Educational Resources Policy Development Guidebook for Community College Governance Officials. The guide explains how the flexibility and diversity of Open Educational Resources (OER) can improve teaching and learning in higher education, all while retaining quality and enabling resource sharing and collaboration. Free to Learn features case studies and highlights several interviews with leaders of the OER community. The document suggests that community colleges are uniquely positioned to both take advantage of OER opportunities and to become pioneers in teaching through the creative and cost-effective use of OER.
