For some of my higher traffic sites, I tend to look at my Google Analytics data a few times a day to see what’s happening, see what traffic volume is like, see where my visitors have come from, see if a post has caught the perfect wave on Twitter or Facebook and so on. I don’t recommend this. It’s a time waster!

The issue of black hat SEO is so serious that some of us have become stuffed shirts ourselves. Good thing, our friend, Adam Thompson from RYP Marketing, injected a dose of humor to the black hat/white hat SEO debacle. He sent us a funny comic about it, which we included in this week’s Friday Humor. Like you, we are completely against everything black hat—well, except those where we can pull out fluffy bunnies. Have a fun and safe Friday!

Small Business making money from social media and SEO: If you are not seeing a tangible and measurable impact of your efforts in Social Media and Search Engine Optimization (SEO), it’s definitely your fault. “The most common measures of SEO performance are the volume of traffic, organic traffic, and the number of keywords appearing on page 1, which give no insight into financial impact.” – Webmarketing 123’s 2012 State of Digital Marketing Report (free report download link)
