Egypt is a country currently faced with many challenges. One of which is an 'Alarming increase' in the most common type of liver cancer which must be addressed: as outlined in a report of a recently held meeting of specialist liver doctors (ESLC). Of note in many other countries liver cancer has also become an increasing indication for liver transplantation.
The incidence of the most common type of liver cancer, Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC), has doubled in Egypt over the past 12 years, as outlined by Dr Ashraf Omar in the report.
