When investigators from the New York Times looked into an illegal organ trading operation based in Costa Rica, what they discovered was that all paths led to Israel.


The culprits (brokers),  were among the central operators in Israel's

irrepressible underground kidney market.

This patient underwent both a composite tissue transplant as well as a combined kidney-pancreas solid organ transplant. This required the co-operation of multiple surgical teams as well as rigorous attention to both planning and undertaking the surgical procedure.
