Brain death decline means fewer donors - Vancouver Sun | Organ Donation & Transplant Matters Resources | Scoop.it

The incidence of brain death may be declining hence leading to fewer numbers of organ donors  as reported via the Vancouver Sun.
The report summarises the results of a research study that has been published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.

Analysis of data from hospitals in one region of Canada has revealed a decrease in the number of patients in whom the diagnosis of brain death was able to be made over the course of the study period.

Hence this has implications for organ donation with mention being made of the alternative pathway to deceased donor organ donation- Donation after circulatory death
