In India, where these pictures were taken, around 2,000 people are thought to illegally sell their kidneys each year on the black market. This article exposes this practice and provides some estimates on how many of these type of procedures may be being performed per year internationally.

When investigators from the New York Times looked into an illegal organ trading operation based in Costa Rica, what they discovered was that all paths led to Israel.


The culprits (brokers),  were among the central operators in Israel's

irrepressible underground kidney market.
