As part of World Hepatitis Day 28th July 2012 comes this media release via WHO/Europe. 9 million people in the WHO European Region are infected with hepatitis C and around 86 000 die annually. Most infected people show no symptoms, so the virus remains neglected until the disease becomes chronic.

 

Hepatitis C leading to chronic liver disease is also the most common indication for liver transplantation in many countries around the world. Click on the banner headline for more information and an interesting video.
