Frozen Time Photography with a 100W LED

Frozen Time Photography with a 100W LED | Open Source Hardware News | Scoop.it
High speed photography is fun. Ultra high frame rate video, even more so. But since not many of us have access to $10,000 HFR cameras… we have to make do with long exposure shots a perfectly timed camera flash. You can design a system to trigger the flash at just the right millisecond — but they’re still pretty expensive typically.

Smartphone Alarm Clock

Smartphone Alarm Clock | Open Source Hardware News | Scoop.it
Hi!In this Instructable I will tell you how to make a good looking smartphone alarm clock. The alarm clock displays the time, can charge the phone and houses a mini amplifier and speaker. I had the idea to build this alarm clock for a long time but the "Time" contest helped me to get started. The design is inspired by the Areaware alarm clock. I loved the design and simplicity from the first moment I saw it. The disadvantage was that the costs where a little bit high for only a piece o

An ARDUINO based JPEG Camera with IR and PIR

An ARDUINO based JPEG Camera with IR and PIR | Open Source Hardware News | Scoop.it
Let’s equip Arduino with a serial-interface JPEG Camera with IR and try two applications: the first one saves shots (on a SD-card) at regular intervals while the second uses a PIR sensor to detect intrusions and photograph what happens.   Recently, miniaturized cameras with serial communication interface have been launched on the market. Compared to traditional cameras, they offer easier integration with Arduino or other microcontroller-based boards. It is quite easy to understand that using

Converting Micro-Servos for Continuous Rotation

Converting Micro-Servos for Continuous Rotation | Open Source Hardware News | Scoop.it
Micro-servos are great devices perfect for adding motion to your projects. Unlike steppers, they can be controlled directly from your Arduino or other favorite microcontroller. Most servos are limited to 180 degrees of motion. This allows microcontrollers to know the exact position of the servo's shaft. You can find continuous rotation servos, but if you have access to lots of cheap micro-servos of the 180 degree variety, it might be helpful to learn this quick hack to make them continuous. What
