Theme: "Rebirth"

Live stream on http://www.tedxliege.com/streaming/

Bernard Rentier's insight:

My contribution to #TEDxLiege "Rebirth" at 15:40 will be on "Rebirth of Science".

In history, technological communication breakthroughs have always induced profound civilisation changes and, singularly, with major impacts on scholarly communication.

Scientific progress is proportional to the efficiency of communication.

New communication hard- and softwares universally available nowadays will definitely change all previous paradigms in scientific research: writing, reviewing, reading, reusing,...

We better be ready for it !

A quality control challenge in an overloaded scholarly publication landscape...

Bernard Rentier's insight:

Peer review, a so far unchallenged principle of quality control for scholarly publications, is now more and more scrutinized.

The dramatic growth of scientific communication has serious drawbacks: price, time to read and quality of peer reviewing.

New approaches must be found and universally adopted. Several new avenues are being proposed. Here is one.

Education 3.0 and the Pedagogy (Andragogy, Heutagogy) of Mobile Learning

Education 3.0 and the Pedagogy (Andragogy, Heutagogy) of Mobile Learning | Open Access to Scholarly Publishing | Scoop.it

This post compares the developments of the Internet-Web to those of education. The Internet has become an integral thread of the tapestries of most societies throughout the globe. The web influences people’s way of thinking, doing and being; and people influence the development and content of the web.

Bernard Rentier's insight:

If you are doing Education 1.0, you're late: skip Education 2.0 and jump directly to Education 3.0 !

Special thanks to Feed the Teacher (Giselle Santos) for sharing this diagram originally posted by Dr. Jackie Gerstein.

The one point I really like is the definition of Education 3.0 - planning and implementing education.  The key is being thoroughly infused and reinvented.

Jeremiah Stanley's curator insight, August 6, 3:16 PM

This article provides a great foundation on web 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 and how making a shift to web 3.0 can benefit students in their learning.
