When his publisher pulled out at the last minute, Immanuel Suttner was faced with a dilemma. To get into a long legal wrangle with the publisher, to abandon the project, or to go ahead and self publish.
Caw Caw! Welcome back to all you Crafty Craw readers! And anyone visiting from GoodyBlog, too! I made a great new travel toy/game to take on our road trip! I'm so proud of this. I think it'is my new favorite...
My placemats took a very respectable 4th place, and I’m proud of my sister for taking the win for the week!! Since I made our placemats, Sofie’s already learned “fork,” “spoon,” and “napkin.” So they really are functional for us! It always takes her a little longer to learn the Spanish words, but we’re getting there, too!
I wanted to make a king cake for Mardi Gras, and after looking at a number of recipes, I discovered that it doesn't really matter what you put in the cake but the dough is always the same - active yeast required. The last (and only) time I made a king cake the traditional way, it ended up about as dense as a bagel. I have no luck when it comes to baking with yeast, but everyone loved that king cake. It was hard to chew, but tasted great!
This time I decided to skip the traditional dough and use my grandma's potica dough instead. In fact, I basically just made an apple potica, minus the apples, and topped it off with a lemony glaze and sugar sprinkles in the traditional Mardi Gras colors.
If you grew up in the 80's, like I did, you're probably already familiar with the awesomeness that is Shrinky Dinks...but did you know that you can still buy Shrinky Dinks? Yep, they're still out there - in craft stores, hobby shops, and even on Amazon. But you don't have to buy a Shrinky Dink kit to have all the fun. Just look for #6 plastic containers and you can make your own!
The AERO chair’s simple interlocking technique makes for a functional and downright gorgeous design that’s sure to withstand time. The design, composed of just 2 pieces, can be assembled simply by sliding the back/front-leg component into the slit of the seat/back-leg piece. Its unique support system, immediately apparent in its aesthetic, makes it just a little easier to store and transport.
I developed an idea in my head I thought just might be crazy enough to work. The next chance I had to steal away alone, I made a beeline for Goodwill. I found exactly what I was looking for, got my purchase for half-price, and excitedly headed home.
All you need is some colored tissue paper and a bunch of green pipe cleaners. You can buy a multi color pack of tissue paper, but I just used tissue paper I had saved from our wedding and Abe's baby shower.
The other day I baked an Amaretto Peach Cheesecake for the first time ever. Unlike the normal cheesecake that we make for Wolves this one has a baked base instead of a biscuit one and the recipe did not call for it to stay in the oven over night. Once it was chilled it was ready to serve. It was a pretty good cheesecake, obviously different in flavours to a normal baked cheesecake, the peaches and amaretto compliment each other well and it’s a pretty cake to look at. I would definitely recommend giving it a try, it’s nice and light, but fruity at the same time. I had a slice the next day with some tea and it hit the sweet spot just right.
