Would you like to know how I grew Quick Sprout to have an Alexa ranking of 10,000 in under four years?
That’s not an easy feat. But the cool thing is I didn’t do anything that you can’t do now. My tactics will work for you, too.
Fortunately, late last year I did an interview with Michael Alexis over at WriterReviews about how I grew Quick Sprout. It’s a great interview to listen to. In the meantime I’ve summarized the content in this post...

What you see in your Facebook newsfeed isn’t magic; it’s controlled by a very important algorithm called EdgeRank. Facebook wants users to be engaged, so EdgeRank is a critical aspect of their business. The EdgeRank factors are:
-Affinity – How often you interact with others (be it visiting a friend’s profile or commenting on a page’s picture). -Edge Weight – The type of content it is. A few types are: Photos, Videos, Status, Place Checkins, becoming friends with someone, liking a page, changing your profile picture, etc. Keep in mind, there are general rules, but everyone’s Edge Weight is different and Facebook has carte blanche to tweak things at will. However grumpy people are when they wake up, and whether they stumble to their feet in Madrid, Mexico City or Minnetonka, Minn., they tend to brighten by breakfast time and feel their moods taper gradually to a low in the late afternoon, before rallying again near bedtime, a large-scale study of posts on the social media site Twitter found.
Drawing on messages posted by more than two million people in 84 countries, researchers discovered that the emotional tone of people’s messages followed a similar pattern not only through the day but also through the week and the changing seasons. The new analysis suggests that our moods are driven in part by a shared underlying biological rhythm that transcends culture and environment. Via Martin Gysler Delete the scoop?

What if your Twitter conversations could expand to include more people from your online community?
Now you can thanks to embedded tweets, a new feature from Twitter.
Sharing Tweets Outside of Twitter
But more than that, the embedded tweets have interactive features. From an embedded tweet, a visitor to your website or a blog post reader can: Reply to the tweet and join the conversation. Share the conversation with their Twitter community using retweet. Mark the tweet as a favorite. View the Twitter profile of the tweet author. Follow the tweet author. View tweet replies by clicking the tweet date.

Last week, when the SEO world was distracted by revelations that Google was blocking keyword referral data and nostalgic mania over MC Hammer’s search engine, Search Engine Land released a leaked Google document outlining Google's official guidelines for quality raters. I read the 125-page document out of curiosity, and I decided to share some valuable insights it contains into the mind of Google.
Sorry, No Secrets Here If you’re looking for SEO “secrets,” you’ll be disappointed by this post. Although this is an internal document, and Google may not be happy about it being leaked, you won’t find a smoking gun here. What you will find is a training manual on Google’s philosophy of quality... Via Martin Gysler Delete the scoop?
