UoW community liaison's insight:

Same as JournalTOCs but only likes academics.  Linked to the British Library.  Should you opt for a life on Civvie Street then JournalTOCs is the better option.

PechaKucha 20x20

PechaKucha 20x20 | Online teaching resources | Scoop.it
The art of concise presentations. PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public.
UoW community liaison's insight:

Give a student a topic - this could be useful for both summative or formative assessment - they can only use 20 screens devoting 20 seconds to each one.  Particularly useful for those who don't like presentations as it takes less than 7 minutes.  It calls for them to be clear and concise.

Prezi is a cloud based presentation software that opens up a new world between whiteboards and slides. The zoomable canvas makes it fun to explore ideas and the connections between them. The result: visually captivating presentations that lead your audience down a path of discovery.
UoW community liaison's insight:

Use this tool to enliven your presentations.  It allows you to import from Powerpoint; provides a vast library of templates; or for the more adventurous you can start from a blank canvas.

There is a free version for those working in education http://prezi.com/pricing/edu/

There are plenty of short video tutorials to help get you started, but it's better to just have a play.
