Today, the marketing world is still hot on the social media marketing trail, but the trail has diverged. There are different paths with cheerleaders along the way no matter which path a marketer follows.


Ideally, marketers should find the path down the middle that marries all of the elements of social media marketing, but most are not there yet. Many of today’s marketers are still choosing a single path to focus on or jumping back and forth.

Meest opvallende stijger is Instagram, dat door het mobiel delen van foto's deel uitmaakt van de grote visualisering van het web. One of my former clients, Andy Paul @ZeroTimeSelling  of Zero Time Selling, writes this post that is right on.


When someone asks you, "What do you do?" -- forget the elevator speech!! Yes, that's right. Just drop it. Share a 30-40 second client story instead. You will get way better results.


What kinds of results? Memorability. The listener will know the difference you make and the value  you bring. You will have begun a relationship, turning a prospect into a warmer lead. These are all things we want.


Andy's post tells you exactly how to create a 30-40 second story. I've used this technique for years and it really works!


The only suggestion I would add is to make sure your customer story makes your customer the hero -- not your. Show the listener how the client was able to do something extraordinary. Everyone wants to be the hero. You are the secondary character.

This is one side of Social Media that isn’t talked about much … how your social media accounts impact your search engine rankings.

You may be getting little to no leads via your social networks but doesn’t mean they’re not vitally important to your website and business. Google and Bing use data from social media networks to help determine your website page rank. (Here we’re talking about Google Page Rank, not necessarily where your website is listed in a search engine.)

If you want to really impact your search engine ranking use Google+. Back in the day, when G+ first came out, I linked to my website, and I went from page 10 to page 3 on Google instantaneously!

Case studies have shown that by starting a G+ page and getting 100, followers a website rank can jump almost 15%! That’s a huge upward trend.

There is no one-size-fits-all secret tool combination for personal branding success.  The main reason I haven’t blogged about all my tools is because I use A LOT of tools. And, I don’t believe any tool is the one perfect tool that does everything. On that same note, I don’t believe every person should use the exact same tools in the exact same way.  Not to mention that tools and social media platforms are changing so rapidly it’s hard to stay up to date with all the features and functions.

 

With all that being said I decided to breakdown the tools I use into different sections and provide you a quick overview of each tool that I use. Please note: just because I use it doesn’t mean it’s a perfect fit for you. OK -- I love catalogs. Not only do I buy from them, but I also learn, discover, and dream. As the NYT's reporter Rebecca Ruiz points out, retailers are adding catalogs back into their marketing, but with a twist.


Now storytelling is taking center stage. We've known some retailers, like Lands End, have made real stories part of their catalog tradition.
