Sales Lead Generation: Email is Still King: Why Social Media Lags Behind for Marketing | Online Marketing Tools and Tips | Scoop.it

The reliance on content in marketing strategies has been phenomenal, and this leaves us to realize the importance of email. E-mail was and will remain a critical passage for tailored content to be shared with clients, colleagues, and prospects. Yes, social media can greatly communicate one’s expertise to the public, but it will never replace the significant function of e-mail marketing in sales lead generation.

In the choice between creating poor content and curating great ideas, you must know by now where I stand.

Sure, I also like to create content - hopefully great content - but either because I'm getting older or realistic, I've stopped believing that I could always create great stuff and perhaps more importantly that I could be more useful and impacting by making other people's awesomness more visible.

As Clair's rant on Business Insider points out, the constraint smart people, brands or businesses should have is NOT to create a ton of content regardless of its quality but to publish only GOOD content regardless of whether they created it or curated it.

What will your choice be?

Claire Cambier's curator insight, July 2, 2013 4:20 AM

Cet article reflète mon point de vue sur l'avenir du community/content management : un besoin de dire plus en parlant moins, sous peine de nous noyer nous-même et nos interlocuteurs dans un océan de contenus, posts, tweets etc.

Beppe Andrianò's curator insight, July 2, 2013 7:34 AM

Google Ranking Factors: A Discreetly Cleaner, More Social Web & An Ever Dominating Search Engine | Online Marketing Tools and Tips | Scoop.it

Recently, Search Metrics released a white paper on their findings for Google’s SEO Ranking Factors in 2013. It displays the correlation between particular metrics such as ‘Facebook Likes’ and ‘Backlinks’ and the rank ability of a page within Google.

Also available in the 70 page document are comparisons with 2012’s data, where that data is available. Not to many marketers surprise, a lot has changed. According to Search Metrics, it’s time to get social! In this article I graze upon some of the most important areas as well as my thoughts on what Google is playing it – for better and worse.

The data from search metrics is based on research and is not 100% factual. Nor are my opinions factual, but rather opinions and statements based on what I believe to be happening.

If you are looking for a way to become less dependent on SEO to keep your web site visibility on search engines, a new approach, promoting a radically different approach to conquer the search engine result pages, is emerging.

It is being called New SEO.

From obsessive keyword analysis and inbound linking focus the new SEO approach focuses on higher quality content and greater attention to audience engagement and relationship building.

The accompanying infographic from Positionly eloquently illustrates the key differences between the traditional way of doing SEO and the new approach.

"The old way of thinking about SEO meant that analytical and mostly technical knowledge was given an edge.

New SEO should prize analytical and mostly marketing knowledge."

The Failure Of Social Media

The Failure Of Social Media | Online Marketing Tools and Tips | Scoop.it

Social Media doesn't work for the vast majority of small businesses.

That was the main message in the USA Today article titled, Study: Social media a bust for small businesses, published on April 17th, 2013. From the news item:"About 61% of small businesses don't see any return on investment on their social-media activities, according to a survey released Tuesday from Manta, a social network for small businesses. Yet, almost 50% say they've increased their time spent on social media, and only 7% have decreased their time. What businesses are trying to get out of social media: 36% said their goal was to acquire and engage new customers, 19% said to gain leads and referrals, and 17% said to boost awareness. Facebook was most cited as the hardest to maintain social-media platform, according to the survey." There is a big lesson in this data...
