Google Puts Local Ads on the Maps App

Google Puts Local Ads on the Maps App | Online Marketing News for Auto Repair Shops | Scoop.it
For local businesses wanting to advertise, Google has announced that relevant ads will appear to users after they perform a search, placed at the bottom of the screen that includes title, ad text, and a link to get directions to the business.
Ed Burckhardt's insight:

This move by Google might end up being a lot more cost effective, and targeted, than the $300 to $500 Yelp charges. At least this way you don't have to worry about Yelp "filtering" most of your good reviews. With the millions of people using the Google Maps App in their smartphones, this definitely could be a win - win situation. It also makes a very strong motivation for all those businesses not having a Mobile Website, time to get on board!

Along the same lines, did you know that you don't have to pay the $400 or $500 that many companies are charging for Mobile Websites? Take a look at live samples of the mobile websites that eCommNow has designed for many of our auto repair shop clients: http://ecommnow.com/Auto-Shops-Mobile-Websites.html And, at half the cost others charge!

Storytelling in 2014

The attention of the consumer has changed, so why hasn't the attention of the marketers? Learn to communicate with your consumers like the year that it actually
Ed Burckhardt's insight:
Is not often that I get excited watching a presentation, but when someone like you Gary, can convey the message in such a visual and compelling way, it definitely gets me going. I have been trying to convey the same message to our auto shop owners' clients, for a while now. The few that have paid attention, and allowed us to do it for them, have upwards of 150 pages indexed by Google. All with the helpful videos and articles that we post weekly for them in their website - blogs. The icing on the cake, with the new (Google) Hummingbird update, the helpful articles for car owners on how to take care of their vehicles, are being found more and more, because of the long tail keywords on the titles. Having said that, I am out to Amazon to get your book just now.

Google's Hummingbird - What it is and it's Impact

An in depth dive into Google's Hummingbird algorithm. A series of examples of how it works, a look at related patents, and what it means for publishers and SEO
Ed Burckhardt's insight:

A very clear and concise way, created by Eric Enge, to explain the new Google Hummingbird algorithm update. Bill Gates coined the phrase "Content is King", now more than ever, it becomes quite relevant.

  • Writing and posting informative and helpful articles, videos, presentations, pertaining directly to your expertise, product, or service.
  • Connecting your Blog  to Google Authorship and making full use of Schema.org, structured data to help search engines interpret the content in your website - blog, (especially if you are marketing to a local level).
  • Distribute your content to all your Social Channels. Improving the way for all your content to be viewed in mobile searches.
  • All of these, and more, will help you become an "Authority" in your vertical, product, or service. So much for all the search engines, as potential new clients.

Back in September, I posted an article in my blog, autoshopmarketing101.com,  showing some examples, of how quality content has helped some of our auto repair shop clients.

October is Fall Car Care Month | Car Care News Service

October is Fall Car Care Month | Car Care News Service | Online Marketing News for Auto Repair Shops | Scoop.it
As autumn descends, the Car Care Council would like to remind motorists of the many benefits of regular vehicle care, maintenance and repair.
Ed Burckhardt's insight:

As a car owner, when you come across an article like this one, from the Car Care Council. What is the first thought that crosses your mind? Yeah, sure, here they go trying to sell me on car service, right?

Allow me to tell you a different angle to this. You probably spent a nice summer with the family, going here and there, enjoying the weather. With the economy still tight in many places, you weren't about to spend your "summer money", on having the car serviced. But now, that kids are going back to school, you definitely need a reliable vehicle. You certainly wouldn't  want to have kids, screaming in the back seat, if the car breaks down.

Or, if you do, what most families do on winter weekends, let's go skiing! Half way up the mountain, the car starts overheating, darned! The weekend just got ruined, call a tow truck, they'll take you to a shop you don't even know, and........you know the rest.

The auto repair shop that has been servicing your car all along. Yes, the one that already knows you by name,  will gladly check all the items that could cause a potential headache. They are not there to "SELL' you something, you don't need. They want to make sure you spend an enjoyable, and safe winter, wherever you go.

Many of them hold, "Free Winterize you car clinics", they'll check your entire cooling system, belts, hoses, etc.  Be smart, give your local auto repair shop a call, and enjoy your Winter!
