This article is great read about the difference between popularity and influence. Yes you can have lots of followers on social media which make you popular, but this does not mean you influence others. To influence you must be engaging and involve your viewers so they feel connected and learn about what you are promoting/talking about. This was they are more influenced by what you say because they feel connected to it.

Social influence is the ability to influence others through the channels of social media. So this brings up the question of how do people creat influence over others? this article looks at the difference between influencers and ambassadors. One havign the ability to influence people over certain things like trends for example. the other been an ambassador which is more like an opinion leader that people respect and follow to see what they say about a particular product. Both of these create strong social influences with consumers on social media.

Business no longer needs to have high priced celebrities to represent their products today we have online influencers. The marketing landscape is changing rapidly. Find out who the influencers are in your niche.

Kred is losing the firehose in November and is focussing on selling top level domains: .best, .kred and .ceo, so that will no longer be of help to anyone.  As for the rest, noone's mentioning Radian 6, marketwired, or spider. Personally, I think Spider's going to make a huge splash. Lastly, Brito's totally right. Find customers (someone who has a vested interest in affirming that their purchase was a good one), but I still think they should be influencers as well. Finding that mix is so precarious. For new brands, I suggest giving influencers the opportunity to try it out themselves, and then when they love it, they need to purchase the next product/service.
