If you use RSS feeds like I do to subscribe to your favorite news sources you know exactly how frustrating is to have partial, truncated RSS feeds that bring to you only the opening part of an article.

FeedsAPI comes to the rescue by offering the ability to instantly convert any truncated RSS feed into a full one and making it as easy as possible to get any of those RSS feeds directly into your email inbox.

From Lifehacker: "Truncated feeds can be a bummer, especially if you really enjoy reading your favorite blogs via RSS.

FeedsAPI is a service that will take any truncated RSS feed, expand it to a full-text feed, and then deliver the resulting stories directly to your inbox, or to your preferred news reader. Best of all, it does this in real-time, so you don't have to wait hours for stories to process.

The video above shows you how the service works. Once you're signed up, you'll get an access key that you can use to add and expand any feed you want to your profile. Just give the service the feed URL you want expanded or added to your collection, your access key, and some details about how you'd like FeedsAPI to handle links in the text. From there, the service will do the rest of the work."

Stories are about People.  Stories don’t tell: they show

Jeni Mawter's curator insight, January 21, 2013 9:36 PM

Stories are about the human condition. We love them because we care about the human condition. Simple.

Two Pens's curator insight, January 24, 2013 11:50 AM

Especially in business (not just entertainment), stories have to elucidate what people want. It's not usually about money or sales, it's more typically about a problem that needs to be solved: creating a presentation quickly, operating a logging truck that's not going to fall apart, ridding oneself of IT hassle. If you can figure out what people want in your product or service, you can tell a stry that makes them act.

Journalism as service: Lessons from Sandy

Journalism as service: Lessons from Sandy | Online Communication | Tools & Trends | Scoop.it
But instead, we got mostly articles. For that’s what journalists do, isn’t it? We write articles. We are storytellers! But not everything should be a story. Stories aren’t always the best vehicle for conveying information, for informing the public. Sometimes lists, data bases, photos, maps, wikis, and other new tools can do a better job.

Updated Web Conferencing Tools Round-Up: 15 Good Alternatives

Updated Web Conferencing Tools Round-Up: 15 Good Alternatives | Online Communication | Tools & Trends | Scoop.it

If you are looking for a browsable round-up of web conferencing platforms and their main key characteristics and traits, you can take a pick at this article-report from Social Business Today.

It lists 15 web conferencing services while providing some useful complementary information for each one, including key features, availability of a trial, and pricing.

Consider this a basic reference to get an idea about differences between major services, but do not rely too heavily on it as my impression is that it is not fully updated and some of the info there contained is actually not correct or incomplete (pricing without correspondent information on what relative capacity it affords is useless) (I am also a bit skeptical in relying on sites that do not provide clear author info).

Still, if I had someone just ask me now where he could find a basic reference for some of the available web conferencing solutions I would suggest them to take a peek at this article.

...and if I had to make my recommendations among those listed, these are the three services I woud suggest you to consider:

a) GotoWebinar - my choice and favorite (yes, it's too expensive)

b) Adobe Connect Pro - good price and good tools

c)  Yugma - free for up to 20 people

Mobile devices now account for 13 percent of worldwide Internet traffic, up from 4 percent in 2010.
Mobile app and advertising revenue has grown at an annual rate of 129 percent since 2008, and now tops $19 billion.

Social News Discovery: Pinterest Meets Flipboard - ROCKZi by Blekko

Social News Discovery: Pinterest Meets Flipboard - ROCKZi by Blekko | Online Communication | Tools & Trends | Scoop.it

Robin Good: ROCKZi is a new social news discovery and sharing service launched by the human curated search engine Blekko.

The service intelligently leverages the great work done by its own human curators to generate a thematic news board that is an hybrid between the experience of Pinterest and the one of Flipboard.

From GigaOM: "...taking a cue from from other popular curation sites, ROCKzi was built to bring curation to a wider set of users through low-touch, passive curation tools.

The site surfaces fresh content from news sources curated by power blekko users and displays articles in topic-specific, searchable “news boards,” from “Geekery” and “Glitterati” to “SportZ” and “Red State.”

As of now, there are 33 boards but, over the next few weeks and months, it plans to expand to hundreds and then thousands more."

N.B.: Not only you can browse and discover news through the existing boards, but if you scroll below them, you will find a search box that allows you to dive and find news on ANY topic you want.
