90 Percent of Small Businesses Use Social Media

90 Percent of Small Businesses Use Social Media | Online Business Guide | Scoop.it

A survey of 600 small business owners across the United States indicates that 90% are actively engaged in social networking sites and 74% perceive social networking as valuable — if not more valuable — than networking in-person.

San - in my neck of the woods, a lot of small businesses use Facebook as their only online communication channel. Yes, it's important, but not on it's own. The biggest driver is still your company website.

Is Google's Synonym Matching Increasing? Can You Say Semantic Web?

Is Google's Synonym Matching Increasing? Can You Say Semantic Web? | Online Business Guide | Scoop.it

In the beginning, Google matched the words in a searcher’s query to the words on a web page and ranks those pages (roughly) based on how many external links each had. Not any more.

How to Tap Into The Marketing Power of the Visual Social Web - Infographic | Jeffbullas's Blog

How to Tap Into The Marketing Power of the Visual Social Web - Infographic | Jeffbullas's Blog | Online Business Guide | Scoop.it

Curator Tom George: Welcome, a picture is in fact worth a thousand words, however perhaps we should rephrase that nowadays. How about a picture is worth a thousand followers. Perhaps a little tongue in cheek, but with the explosion of image curation sites such as Pinterest, and my new favorite RebelMouse, there is little doubt that we want to see amazing and yes spectacular things.

Before you go photo crazy though, have some idea of what you would like to accomplish with telling your story. No matter what type of brand you have if it is your own personal brand or a company brand, you must have your well thought out story done in advance. In movies they call it storyboarding.

Once you have your story, which by the way doesn't have to be complete as it will evolve over time, using the image is just another way to tell your story across different platforms and different mediums.

Enjoy this article then on "How to Tap Into The Marketing Power of the Visual Social Web - Infographic.

Search volumes on the visual media of Infographics over the last 2 years reveal an increase of 800%.

Everyone loves holidays. An essential part of the packing for our family holidays were the cameras, both the still and video variety. As we drove off on our summer adventures the car was often stopped to snap that amazing waterfall or record that stunning sunset.

Future of Link building 2012 and Ahead

Future of Link building 2012 and Ahead | Online Business Guide | Scoop.it

With the latest updates like Panda and Penguin, the link building strategies adopted by most search engine optimizers needs to be changed.

The techniques of link buildinghave more or less remained the same for the past several years but now the game has changed.Getting natural backlinks is what has become more necessary than before. Almost every business must devise a strategy for user engagement and link building through user engagement.

The rules are not hard bind, these would get changed for every website according to their niche. Let’s see what approach we must follow as search engine optimizers to build quality links for our client’s websites.

Content Has Become King Of Kings

Now, the position of content has become more important than before. Previously little content with ads and syndication worked but after the Panda update, low quality content has no place in Google. Hence, quality and user friendly content is required to attract people.

Hence, your first strategy should be to create content on your site as per the needs of your targeted audience. Before you start the process of link building, this is the most required part of your campaign.

Sites that cannot have content like ecommerce product sites might use user comments, reviews, product description, testimonials as their main content.
