 Great read: in this article on +Social Media Today drives the question of whether or not you're measuring what really matters. Are you spending time high-fiving or kicking yourself based on what you're measuring now?

One of my fav nuggets: 
"His company’s research examined 10,000 socially-shared articles and found the relationship between the amount a piece of content is shared and the amount of attention it gets is non-existent. "

This says to me that just because you get a quantity of likes it may not mean the information was actually consumed.  

There are so many opinions on what to measure, however, that I most appreciated the quote near the end that says basically you should measure what matters to you. Great point.

Oh, I paid special attention to the lead generation measurement tips.  Good, simple list including things like "filled out contact forms".

One of my favs is something really simple but I hadn't thought too much about it until recently....ask people to repost.

 

I really plan to do this more in the coming year, not in an annoying 'please-let-me-overwhelm-you-with-my-stuff-way" but in a 'call-to-action' way. People want to know what you expect them to do next, and frankly, it's okay to ask for shares if you are putting out useful information.

 

In the tips sheet, for example, in Twitter Heidi says the phrase "please retweet" has been useful.  (BTW, I read it's better to completely spell this out vs. just saying "RT")

 

Check out these tips and find a few you can implement in your 2014 strategy.

Good read. The takeaway I have here is to take risks with your brand, but make sure they're calculated ones designed with an end result in line...typically revenue boost. 

 

I'm one of the parents who had to explain "jingling" to my 6 year old. While this racy ad wouldn't necessarily keep me from buying, it does make me have a second thought about what else my kids will see if we actually shopped at Kmart. 

 

I'm careful not to cross the line my market draws in my branding. How about you?
