How Many More Days Justice 4 Davontae Sanford 2016 Time For Change Bring Me Home Enough Is Enough ! | SocialAction2014 | Scoop.it

Who is Davontae Sanford?

Who is Davontae Sanford? He is Detroit's Forgotten Child. Innocence raped in the grips of overzealous cops and a prosecutor who doesn't give a damn about justice or innocence. She wants Detroit to forget Davontae!! To ignore her great evil misdeeds and sweep the case under the carpet. And your silence has made it all possible Detroit. Until it happens to your child - of course. BUT she suffered a MAJOR defeat at the Michigan Court of Appeals when that court granted Davontae relief on every issue he raised but one; namely whether Private Investigator Linda Boris can testify as to the details of the murders that Vincent Smothers confided in her --as he has to CNN; the Associated Press; his attorney and last but not least to Detroit Homicide investigators. Davontae cross-appealed that issue at the Supreme court. Smothers wants to confess on the record to clear Davontae for the four murders he did not commit. What does Smothers have to gain by confessing to a crime that he knows will get him a mandatory life sentence? Nothing! But Kym Worthy has a lot to lose if he does. Millions of dollars in civil liability and her integrity (which isn't much) for WRONGFULLY convicting that young boy! And Detroit? You are okay with this? Well we can't wait for sleepers to wake up from a dream. Fortunately one appeals court made up of all conservative judges by the way ruled in Davontaes favor. The prosecutor appealed that decision to the Michigan Supreme Court where we are now in a,wait and see hold for the high court. I am cautiously optimistic however that given the fact the three judge panel who ruled in Davontaes favor were all conservatives the state high court which is majority conservative will deny Worthy's appeal. And then the ugly court battle will begin. She will NOT be able to stop Smothers from confessing on the record and convince the trial judge to sustain Davontaes convictions. There are many lawyers on both sides. Smothers will flip her case upside down and she knows it. Hence her reason for fighting to stop him. Treacherous and devious she is.Roberto Guzman

Arizona opens summer camp for kids...in jail

It’s called Sheriff Arpaio’s Camp Summer Stars. There’s one in June and one in July. It lasts for two days. The point of it, according to the Sheriff, is to teach kids the realities of jail life in an effort to scare them straight. While they’re at the camp, the kids will be treated just like any inmate. They’ll have to wear inmate clothing. They’ll sleep in jail bunks. They’ll eat jail food. They’ll do jail labor jobs. They’ll get the full-on experience of what it’s like to be in jail.

Wisconsin DOC is force feeding prisoners who are on hunger strike to end solitary confinement

by Ben Turk - June 24, 2016 We have confirmed that at least two of the perhaps dozens of prisoners who have been refusing food since the week of June 10 are being force fed by Wisconsin Department of Corrections officials. Using a practice which has been condemned by the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Red Cross as a form of torture and “never ethically acceptable,” Wisconsin DOC personnel have been forcing a feeding tube through the nose and down the throat of their restrained and struggling captives three times a day since last weekend.

PTSD-June 27 is National Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Day in the United States

I have known thousands of inmates to be released from prisons all across this country. Many that have been wrongfully convicted return to a decaying society where that rules and laws have changed. Many suffer from oppressive laws and are denied employment and other benefits not because they were guilty, but because they were innocent and were subject to inhumane conditions for many decades. Many cannot adjust to crowds, many are re-victimized through society's deceit, others within the community search out ways to gain from their harsh plights.

Racism On The Rise In UK After Brexit

Since the UK voted to leave the EU, there has been a sharp spike in racist incidents. The attacks are centered around foreign born individuals such as an attack on a Polish Social and Cultural Association. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. “After Thursday's referendum on a "Brexit," a wave of racist incidents have been reported to British police and documented in widely shared social media posts. Through the weekend, #Postrefracism has been trending, and its contents provide a disheartening view of how Britain's vote to leave the European Union may be emboldening those who harbor virulent racist sentiments. Police in west London were investigating what they called a "racially motivated" attack against the Polish Social and Cultural Association. Poles make up the largest foreign-born population in the United Kingdom. The organization's building was apparently defaced with graffiti that said, "Go home." In Cambridgeshire, leaflets were apparently distributed with “Leave the EU/No more Polish vermin” written in both English and Polish.” Read more here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/w... Part 1: "My Four Months as a Private Prison Guard": Shane Bauer Goes Undercover to Expose Conditions

http://democracynow.org - Between 2009 and 2011, Shane Bauer spent nearly two years locked up in an Iranian prison as one of the jailed American hikers. Last year, he went back to jail—this time as an undercover journalist working as a guard at a private prison in Louisiana. In a stunning new exposé for Mother Jones, Bauer chronicles the four months he spent undercover last year as a guard at Louisiana’s Winn Correctional Facility. Winn is the oldest privately operated medium-security prison in the country and sits in the state that holds the distinction as having the world’s highest incarceration rate—more than 800 prisoners per 100,000 residents. During Bauer’s investigation, Winn was run by the Corrections Corporation of America, the nation’s second-largest private prison operator. Bauer’s story offers a never-before-seen look at the for-profit prison industry, exposing conditions that include violence among inmates, poor medical and mental healthcare for even the sickest prisoners, mismanagement and lack of training for staff.

Wisconsin force-feeding solitary inmates to end hunger strike

The Department of Corrections is force-feeding at least three inmates currently on a hunger strike in protest of long-term solitary confinement that can last up to decades in the state of Wisconsin. The strike, dubbed “Dying to Live,” seeks to shine a light on the one hundred WI inmates currently held in solitary, a practice the United Nations has called a form of torture. For more on this, RT America’s Simone Del Rosario is joined by former inmate of seven years Talib Akbar, who was placed in solitary more than ten times.

With killings on the rise in Chicago, police are putting their hands up

Chicago is seeing a spike in crime, particularly gun violence, that has alarmed the entire city. Currently pushing over 1,500 shootings to date this year, the month of June has shown no signs of slowing down. The surge in violence could not have come at a more complicated time for the city, with a police department in turmoil — following the release of the Laquan McDonald video — and a subsequent task force report which accused the department of an entrenched culture of racism and abuse. VICE News speaks with an active-duty CPD officer, Superintendent Eddie Johnson, and a mother on Chicago’s South Side who lost both her son and husband to gun violence, to better understand the dynamics at play amid the bloodshed. Read "Chicago's new normal: Five people killed and 12 injured by gunfire overnight Friday” - http://bit.ly/28RY2MV
