Who is Davontae Sanford? He is Detroit's Forgotten Child. Innocence raped in the grips of overzealous cops and a prosecutor who doesn't give a damn about justice or innocence. She wants Detroit to forget Davontae!! To ignore her great evil misdeeds and sweep the case under the carpet. And your silence has made it all possible Detroit. Until it happens to your child - of course. BUT she suffered a MAJOR defeat at the Michigan Court of Appeals when that court granted Davontae relief on every issue he raised but one; namely whether Private Investigator Linda Boris can testify as to the details of the murders that Vincent Smothers confided in her --as he has to CNN; the Associated Press; his attorney and last but not least to Detroit Homicide investigators. Davontae cross-appealed that issue at the Supreme court. Smothers wants to confess on the record to clear Davontae for the four murders he did not commit. What does Smothers have to gain by confessing to a crime that he knows will get him a mandatory life sentence? Nothing! But Kym Worthy has a lot to lose if he does. Millions of dollars in civil liability and her integrity (which isn't much) for WRONGFULLY convicting that young boy! And Detroit? You are okay with this? Well we can't wait for sleepers to wake up from a dream. Fortunately one appeals court made up of all conservative judges by the way ruled in Davontaes favor. The prosecutor appealed that decision to the Michigan Supreme Court where we are now in a,wait and see hold for the high court. I am cautiously optimistic however that given the fact the three judge panel who ruled in Davontaes favor were all conservatives the state high court which is majority conservative will deny Worthy's appeal. And then the ugly court battle will begin. She will NOT be able to stop Smothers from confessing on the record and convince the trial judge to sustain Davontaes convictions. There are many lawyers on both sides. Smothers will flip her case upside down and she knows it. Hence her reason for fighting to stop him. Treacherous and devious she is.Roberto Guzman

On May 10th, Symone Nicole Marshall died in a Texas Jail. In another in-custody death that bears a striking resemblance to those of Sandra Bland, Gynnya McMillen, Joyce Crunnell and more, Symone died after being taken to jail instead of the hospital after a car accident. The Black Youth Project 100, Black Lives Matter, Ferguson Action and Project South have declared Thursday, May 19 a #SayHerName National Day of Action to end domestic and state violence toward Black women, girls and trans women. ColorOfChange will be delivering over 193,000 petitions signatures to Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin to demand justice for Gynnya McMillen.
The Indiana Court of Appeals will hear arguments today in the case of Purvi Patel, the Indian-American woman sentenced to 20 years for feticide and neglect of a dependent in 2015. Advocates say her treatment was racially biased and will deter other pregnant women from seeking medical care.
On Monday, Virginia Republicans sued to halt Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe’s order restoring voting rights to 206,000 felons, a move that could affect the November presidential election. The lawsuit in the Virginia Supreme Court reportedly asks justices to require the voting registrars not to sign up felons based on McAuliffe’s order on April 22 and to cancel all registrations from prisoners since it was issued. The lawsuit, which is headed by leaders of the Republican-controlled state legislature, adds that McAuliffe’s order was unconstitutional. Since signing the order, the Virginia governor has said that nearly 80 percent of the felons whose rights were restored are nonviolent offenders who have also been free for over a decade. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/Reuters/d... http://www.wochit.com
Mexican authorities and independent experts have begun the exhumation of more than a hundred bodies buried in pits in the central state of Morelos. The mass grave is located in the town of Tetel-cingo, just south of Mexico City. Prosecutors say the one-hundred sixteen bodies discovered there were buried in March, 2014. Activists are questioning the validity of the official account, because authorities have files on only eighty-eight bodies in the pits. Morelos has been one of the Mexican states most affected by drug violence, including kidnappings and murders. Thousands involved in the Mexican drug war have vanished. The UN and several human rights organizations estimate that at least twenty-thousand people have gone missing in Mexico.

They, that elusive 'powers that be', control everything, the militia, policing, policy, the media, currency, laws, the markets, hierarchy, sovereignty and wealth. In a nation in which hierarchy has dominated for centuries, it is almost futile to attempt to challenge the overwhelming deference towards such a system and the party which best represents and embodies the overwhelming power of privilege - the Conservatives party. Conservatives have always been the party that least represents the lives and concerns of ordinary people, put simply, voting Conservative (Tory) is like Turkeys voting for Christmas. Your continuing success in securing what is known as 'the deferential vote' is locked into the presumed legitimacy of hierarchical power and there is no better example of this than the adoration of royalty which can see tens of thousands of flag waving people lining the streets worshipping at the feet of privilege. Your orchestration of the privatisation of our NHS is the most shocking, tragic, heinous abuse of the British people. The NHS, universal health care for all, funded by the people and free at the point of use, is the greatest achievement for the people, built and maintained by the people, in this nations history. Out of the ashes of war, we truly built a nation fit for heroes, a nation to be proud of. Social policy by Tories is steeped against ordinary people, poverty under Conservatives is a political given and his own privations in early life led Aneurin Bevan to make his famous statement, "no amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party that inflicted those bitter experiences on me". And here we are today, poverty once again out of control, our NHS being stolen from us, the poor being hounded to death and whilst a petition to save BBC recipes can attract 195,178 supporters in mere days and garner a response, 700,700 signatories to save our NHS across 650 local campaigns are ignored. Robbing the health of the poor for profit is an appalling act of the worst kind of social vandalism, sustained by lies and deception. That you are getting away with it is a triumph of institutionalised ignorance. Such ignorance, like poverty, is not the fault of its victims but of the system that creates and maintains it for its own nefarious purposes. Educating for ignorance is just another dirty Tory game as Gove and his rote learning so ably demonstrated. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/features/the-birth-of-the-nhs-856091.htmlhttp://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/john-wight/david-cameron_b_1621999.htmlhttp://www.theguardian.com/news/1948/jul/05/leadersandreply.mainsectionhttps://www.change.org/p/bbc-save-the-bbc-s-recipe-archivehttps://you.38degrees.org.uk/efforts/save-our-nhs/near/newhttps://www.morningstaronline.co.uk/a-3f63-NHS-reformed-again#.V0MKWeSzzc4https://www.opendemocracy.net/uk/graham-peebles/austerity-and-rise-of-poverty-in-britainhttp://www.theguardian.com/politics/2012/nov/14/michael-gove-backs-learning-by-rote
We the people call for a general strike against the Conservative Cuts and their ability to govern this country as a true representative of the people. On the 4th July 2016, We call on all unions and protest groups to unite and make a stand against the deadly cuts being imposed on the people of th
California has released more than 1,500 inmates from prison since 2012. What happens next? --- The Return, which debuts tonight on PBS, is a documentary that follows the journey of several former California prison inmates as they re-enter the world after serving decades behind bars under Three Strikes sentencing. Three Strikes passed in 1994 in the state and requires a mandatory sentence of 25 years to life for a third felony conviction. California voters modified the law in 2012 by passing Prop 36, which allowed for the resentencing and release of convicts whose third strike was a non-violent, non-serious offense. Since then, the courts have released more than 1,500 California inmates from prison. Reason TV's Zach Weissmueller sat down with Katie Galloway, who is one of the film's two directors, and Kevin Bilal Chatman, one of the film's subjects, who served 11 years for dealing drugs to an undercover police officer. Under Three Strikes, Chatman faced life in prison but was resentenced after the passage of Prop 36. Galloway and Chatman discuss the role that Three Strikes has played in overincarceration, what "tough on crime" laws get wrong, the surprising politics of prison sentencing reform, the difficulties of transitioning from prison to civilian life, and what other states can learn from California's experiment in resentencing.
