The White House Seeks To Minimize Prison Population

It's known by now that the United States is home to less than 5 percent of the world’s population, but home to almost 25 percent of the world’s prison population. However, the Obama administration believes better data within the criminal justice system could correct the imbalance. On June 29th, the White House announced its new Data-Driven Justice Initiative, through which 67 cities and states will work with each other, as well as with leading tech companies to find new ways to use data to shrink the size of their local prison populations. The White House pointed to one example in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, which began delving into its own data back in 2014 to find low-risk people in jail who could be released early. That intervention led to a 40 percent reduction in the county jail population with no increase in reported crime.

US has world's highest incarceration rate

The Unites States has the highest rate of incarceration in the world. According to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, African Americans now constitute nearly one million of the total two-point-three million detained population and they are imprisoned at nearly six times the rate of the White. Together, African Americans and Hispanics comprised 58-percent of all prisoners in 2008, even though they make up approximately one quarter of the US population.

MY ‘TEMPORARY’ HOUSING IS NOT FIT TO LIVE IN 27/6/2016

Boundary House in Welwyn Garden City, which houses around 45 families, has become one property where Waltham Forest houses residents temporarily because it says there are no homes in the borough available. Although supposed to be temporary, people can end up in these 'temporary' properties for years. The property is owned by Thule Investments Ltd, that rents the homes to the council, while residents say that repairs are not done and the condition of the premises is left in a hazardous condition, putting their families’ health at risk. Residents visit Waltham Forest Housing offices to outline their concerns in an attempt to get the council to get the owners to address the issues. They manage to get a meeting with John Knight (Director of Housing at Waltham Forest council), whether this resolves problems for the families remains to be seen.

Arizona opens summer camp for kids...in jail

It’s called Sheriff Arpaio’s Camp Summer Stars. There’s one in June and one in July. It lasts for two days. The point of it, according to the Sheriff, is to teach kids the realities of jail life in an effort to scare them straight. While they’re at the camp, the kids will be treated just like any inmate. They’ll have to wear inmate clothing. They’ll sleep in jail bunks. They’ll eat jail food. They’ll do jail labor jobs. They’ll get the full-on experience of what it’s like to be in jail.

Sign the PETITION Write to Pinkney: Marquette Branch Prison, Rev. Edward Pinkney N-E-93 #294671, 1960 US Hwy 41 South, Marquette, MI 49855
Twitter: @FreeRevPinkney, @Justice4Pinkney Pinterest
In 2011 James Hightower, a puppet of Whirlpool and Lakeland Hospital, was elected mayor in Benton Harbor, Michigan. When Benton Harbor residents proposed that the city enact by referendum a 1 percent income tax aimed at Whirlpool to help solve the city's financial crisis, Whirlpool, Lakeland Hospital and Mayor James Hightower worked to defeat the measure through a massive misinformation campaign. In 2013, Rev. Pinkney and others launched an effort to recall Hightower. They gathered more than the required number of signatures to force a recall election and turned them in to the County Clerk, who verified the group had more than enough good signatures. The recall election was scheduled to be held on May 6, 2014, but at the Mayor's request, James Hightower, Whirlpool Corporation, the Berrien County Sheriff Department, and prosecutor Mike Sepic began investigating the petitions campaign to save the Mayor puppet from public humiliation and exposure. Their tactic was to intimidate residents who signed the petitions and build a false, misguided, malicious case against Rev. Pinkney.

ADHD Teen Held 3 yrs in solitary without trial in AZ: Leonard Moreno

ADHD Teen Held 3 yrs in solitary without trial in AZ: Leonard Moreno | SocialAction2014 | Scoop.it
Interview with Kathy Seymour, mother of a mentally ill young man held 3 yrs in Sheriff Joe's cruel Maricopa Jail without a trial. Call to listen at Human Rights Demand channel (347)857-3293. Leonard Moreno was arrested at age 15 and has been in SOLITARY CONFINEMENT for 3 years to force a confession. Email Len's mother, at JusticeforLen@gmail(dot)com >> You can also hear the interview at https://fccdl.in/Brlzw0E8b by calling (605)562-0029, code 992.212.650, reference no. 62. Leonard will go before a judge on June 30, 2016. Please write to Len at Booking No. T008017, Maricopa Jail, 201 W. Jefferson, Phoenix, AZ 85003. Please call about his care at (602)876.0322. Leonard is losing ground mentally and recently tried suicide. Guards are reportedly abusing Leonard and spitting in his food. Mentally challenged prisoners have starved to death in jails and prisons throughout the USA. We do not know whether Leonard was physically attacked, but his ear is reportedly oozing liquid that could be his brain fluid. Please care and share Leonard's moms testimony with your friends and online groups. No child should be arrested and held on a $1M cash bond in an adult facility and tortured in solitary 23/7 for three years until he is an adult before giving him a trial. These are crimes against humanity that are common regarding mentally ill Americans, especially blacks and Latinos. Please share the expense of justice quests on Human Rghts Demand https://www.paypal.me/HumanRightsDemand
