Aurora Humarán's curator insight, July 15, 5:30 AM

Have you ever wished that translation conferences offered professional programs beyond concise presentations? Opportunities where you could also create, watch others create, and discuss your choices with the help of a writer or poet, to better understand the relationship between thought and language?

IAPTI is lucky because Bordeaux is not only a city of amazing beauty and of outstanding wine, but also the home of one of the founders of creating writing in France, Michel Ducom, who will join us on the day before the conference and help you discover a unique writer: yourself. Join us for a 4-hour multilingual creative writing workshop on Friday September 4. https://www.iapti.org/conferenceFR/workshops/

interpreter's curator insight, May 20, 6:51 PM

The company’s spiraling economic fortunes over the last couple of years -- and no doubt the marketing hype of machine translation vendors -- almost certainly provided the impetus to forsakeprofessional Japanese human translation for cheap machine translation. Any savings Takeda initially achieved have been totally wiped out, as has the company itself!

The Language Ctr's curator insight, August 19, 10:08 AM

Although the current trend in understanding how and when to use machine translation is a big topic of conversation in the field, there are important parameters involved in making this work. The human element in post editing cannot (at least not yet) be eliminated from the mix.
