Olive oil supplementation proved to be beneficial and was found to both attenuate these changes and to positively affect the thickness of bones.

Diet plays a significant role in maintaining healthy bones for which it is important to eat foods rich in calcium and Vitamin D, as well as those containing minerals including: phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, boron, iron, fluoride, and copper. Doctors often recommend foods such as nuts, seeds, beans, and grains to improve mineral levels, while cod liver oil and fish such as tuna and salmon are considered to be good sources of Vitamin D. When it comes to improving levels of calcium, dairy products like yogurt, cheese, and fortified milk are very often recommended but olive oil can also be a good source. In one cup (216mg), olive oil contains 2.2mg of Calcium, as well as necessary minerals such as Iron (1.2mg), Potassium (2.2mg), and sodium (4.3mg).

Olive oil will not be the only solution in the continuing fight against postmenopausal osteoporosis but having performed well in the lab, scientists have concluded that it is a very promising candidate for future treatments of the disease.

Food as medicine for our whole body, mind, and spirit. Haaaaaa. That was a beautiful cleansing breath. Nature provides everything we require.

 

Olive oil made from olives which originate in the Mediterranean region offer numerous health benefits as one can see for themselves in the people of this region. Longevity and glowing skin and hair are hallmarks. And chefs everywhere use olive oil in their creations. It's a staple in my home and probably yours too.

 

As you probably know from reading my posts, I promote the healthy fats and olive oil is one of them. It's one of the healthies fats  The monounsaturated fat in olive oil has been shown to control LDL - bad cholesterol and raise the good cholesterol HDL This can potentially reduce your risk for heart disease.

 

And the antioxidants in olive oil help to repair some of the damage that free radicals cause. Free radicals are naturally produced by our body and can damage cells when we digest food, smoke, stand to close to a bus or truck that emits harmful odors, ingest unkowingly pesticides, and toxins in the air we breathe, water we drink.

 

Antioxidants contained in olive oil benefit more than your heart. They fight off cell destruction, fight the signs of aging and give you a more youthful appearance.It can be used as a moisturizer as it softens dry skin. Extra virin olive oil is comprised of about 80% of oleic acid which easily penetrates the skin and allows the oil to heal damage, reduce wrinkles, and improve texture. Aloe vera does the same and is also one of the most healing plants in the world. Commercial skin care products don't always penetrate the skin.

 

And the same goes for your hair if its dry and brittle try olive oil or drink aloe vera as I do. I love how it makes my hair shiny and soft.
