I well remember many of the games mentioned here as I owned many of them. I have, in fact, written an article on old school video games and systems which you can find if you click on the following link:
Retro games hark back to the days when playing video games on your Atari ST, and Amiga's, was an innocent past time. Of course, back in the early 1970s, when video games were in their infancy - with the introduction of 'PONG' and the Sinclair Spectrum - they were making nowhere near the income they bring in now. This was because no one really saw them as anything more than just an enjoyable way to pass the time.
Of course, now, these days, it is far different, with the games industry overtaking the film industry in income alone. However, back in those dark and distant days of the 1970s, and early '80s, and although the graphics capability of machines like the Sinclair Spectrum [which actually ran on tape, for those old enough to remember, and which took an age to load], many of the games were very playable indeed.
There was an innocence about video games back then they you just do not get now, in the present time. Video games now, have become much more serious and the enjoyment, I feel, has certainly been lost.
