If you want to build a dance festival from scratch, the key is collaboration. When veteran Kansas City Ballet dancers Logan Pachciarz and Anthony Krutzkamp determined to create an off-season dance performance, their goals were twofold: to provide work for dancers and choreographers from various companies during the lean summer months, and to present work to Kansas City audiences that we might not normally see otherwise.

I remember my first drive-in theatre experience as a kid. It was the early ’80s and we saw Disney’s Herbie Goes Bananas from the comfort of my parents’ VW camper complete with a pop-up roof, which proved to be the ultimate viewing spot.

An apprentice is one who learns by practical experience under skilled workers or individuals in a trade, art, or calling. For Artistic Director Ward Holmquist, the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and its apprentice program aids developing opera singers with a rare opportunity to continue to hone their art and shape their voices along a more confident path. Those who are selected participate in a two-year program of training and performances, which includes supporting roles in main stage operas, vocal coaching, and serving as ambassadors for their art form.
