The Unicorn Theater is hosting five shows for KC Fringe Fest this year.  LOVE, NUMBERS, & TELEVISION, To Make It Right by Kelly Adrian, Right Between the Ears, Victoria: Math Team Queen by Kathryn Walat and Lucky Streak, A Musical. The performances will begin Friday night, July 19th at 6:00 pm. with  LOVE, NUMBERS, & TELEVISION, two music dramas about love in the modern age by local composers Jonathan Robertson and Ryan Oldham.

The one great show is “Hairspray” and it is being co-produced by the White Theatre and Theatre in the Park in the first collaboration between the two entities. It opens Saturday night, July 13, at the White Theatre and moves to Theatre in the Park Aug. 2.

I saw at least two guests carrying oxygen tanks, so wisecrack about the age of the audience if you must. But when I heard that The Kansas City Jazz Orchestra (KCJO) April Tribute to Benny Goodman concert netted nearly $120,000 – largely through donations given in support of the event – my respect didn’t just grow. It jumped somersaults.
