Cirque du Gay: Another Outing - KC Fringe Festival review by surlywench | KC Stage Reviews

You wouldn't think two guys (and a helper) could put on such a dizzying array of performances in such a short time and make each and every one of them good... but they did.

The comedy was spot-on. The juggling was brilliant. The audience participation was great - you gotta hand it to the volunteers who got up on stage!

Bottom (he-he!) line, it was simply delightful to watch. I couldn't stop smiling. A brilliant show that, if it comes back next year, will be on my must-see list!

Right Between the Ears - KC Fringe Festival review by surlywench | KC Stage Reviews

I can't believe that vocal range came out of some of the performers, especially one of the girls! They all did a brilliant job of expressing a wide variety of characters, and it brought you back to the golden age of radio - right down to the simple, but effective, sound effects. more...

The Last Temptation of Harry - KC Fringe Festival review by fluffysingler | KC Stage Reviews

I have to agree with the other reviewer, although I will try to be more constructive with my comments. As a theatre artist as well as an instructor of theatre, I will say that you need to do some work on range of emotion with the actors. The delivery was fairly flat. I know from talking to the playwright, I believe it was, that the intention was to write a morality play. more...

KC Magic Cabaret - KC Fringe Festival review by magicfan | KC Stage Reviews

I saw 2 of the Magic Cabaret's shows. The magic was solid Thurs night, but agree with the other viewer's comment about Reverand Al. What did his performance have to do with a magic show? It was out of place and had nothing to do with magic.

Saturday's show had great magic but I was disappointed with the underlying message. I watch magic to be entertained, not to be lectured about what a bad person I may be! I could tell from audience reactions that I was not alone.

When Art In Motion Dance Company performs its take on Grimm Brothers’ “Snow White” on Friday, there won’t be seven dwarves and Snow White won’t be wearing a large gown like in Disney’s version of the fairy tale. The performance is the company’s own take of the well-known story, complete with modern music and costumes.

The History And Future Of Drive-Ins | KCUR | OffStage | Scoop.it

Drive-in movie theaters were once a staple of American popular culture, but over the decades, they've been closing across the country. Kansas City, however, seems to be an epicenter for the disappearing relic across the rest of the United States - we've got three.

The Drowsy Chaperone - River City Community Players review by NYC_Transplant | KC Stage Reviews

River City Community Player’s production of “The Drowsy Chaperone” is a must-see. Their presentation of a misfit’s nostalgic reminiscences of theater long past is spot on. The story itself is pleasant enough when performed by a mediocre cast but the River City cast at Leavenworth’s community theater is far from mediocre. more...

Twisted Beats and Circus Feats - KC Fringe Festival review by surlywench | KC Stage Reviews

If you tried to concentrate on everything that went on in the show, you'd go insane. For being a show of only two people, the pace was extraordinary. He (the clown) spoke so very quickly, even when he wasn't rapping. The only mellow moment of the show was the amazing acrobatic act by the wind-up ballerina. more...

The Traveling Tap Dance Super Show - KC Fringe Festival review by SceneAlot | KC Stage Reviews

Caught Tristan and Marty's show on Saturday night and it was solid! These guys are wicked good tap dancers! They make it all seem easy, which it decidedly is not! The super hero persona and his arch nemesis, the Mad Tapper, didn't add all that much for me, but I guess it did serve to move the show along, and change things up. I can take my tap dancing straight up, no chaser. Both guys can dance/tap their feet off, and the Super Kids were also great! Loved the sand dance! Loved the ending when they invited anyone who knew how to tap on stage with them for the finale. So sweet!
