Double Bass Double | Steve Paul

New York musicians Diana Herold (vibes) and Grisha Alexieva (drums) hooked up with two Kansas City bassists (Greg Clinkingbeard, Bob Bowman) and trumpeter Stan Kessler in a chamber jazz gig at Amigoni Urban Winery. This is a tune by Herold (I missed the title). This is a Samsung Android video, trying out an iRig plug-in microphone, which resulted in far better sound than I've usually gotten with phone video.

Miss Saigon returns to the Starlight Theatre | KC Stage Reviews

It would be interesting, I think, to some day see a double bill consisting of Miss Saigon and its operatic parent, Madame Butterfly. Puccini's original tale of careless adventurism in early 20th-century Japan has in the hands of Richard Maltby Jr and Alain Boublil dropped right into the chaotic last days of Viet Nam and afterwards, bringing a timeliness that hits uncomfortably close to the mark. But then, that is precisely its job.
