Author Katherine Linquist, age 20, is a modern and contemporary dancer who has always enjoyed choreography and reading. She grew up just outside Topeka and is a dance major at Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi.  “Twelve-Day Christmas of Silverleene Forest” was born into a first draft eight years ago, during the Christmas season when Linquist was just 12 years old and had the idea of creating a dance production / book out of the “The Twelve Days of Christmas” song.

Director John Alexander stood at the front of the restored 1885 Parallel Church at Rock Springs 4-H Center looking over the 40 or so movie extras and actors dressed as Kansas settlers and, one at a time, telling them where to sit in the pews to ensure the best shots for “The Bender Claim,” a Hitchcock-like psychological thriller he and producer JC Guest are making about the notorious Bender family of southeast Kansas.

This is another great festival to help bring revenue to a city. Local in-town shows at local business is a great way to help promote not only the city but the shop where the music is being played. These festivals often hosts a lot of local bands and are able to help promote them.
