Living Style: Graffiti Glamour | OFF THE CANVAS DESIGN | Scoop.it

Interior designer Kelly Porter has discovered that graffiti is now a glamorous and legit art form — inspiring creative professionals with its energy, style and dramatic colors.
This article sums up what my overall idea for my curation project is. How street art is becoming an accepted style of art within professional and upscales places. In the article it descrbes how in the past graffiti was pictured purely as negitive art but is becoming more accepted for it's raw energy designs.

Graffiti Furniture Brings ‘The Street’ Indoors

Graffiti Furniture Brings ‘The Street’ Indoors | OFF THE CANVAS DESIGN | Scoop.it
Combining sleek modern furniture, with energetic and wild graffiti, designer Ilan Dei has the makings of a visionary.
At first glance the furniture seems very nice, at the same time plain. However when you open the cupboards, or look down into the details you can see the art is hidden within the piece. These everyday pieces of furniture have two sides that fit creative and professional spaces.

This stencil reminds me of some of Banksy's stencils because the stencil interacts with surface it is applied to. (Click on this icon and when the larger image appears click out of the photo view and check out the site behind. The site "My Modern Met" has some interesting images of street art.)

How to Draw Graffiti Names: 10 steps (with video) - wikiHow | OFF THE CANVAS DESIGN | Scoop.it
wikiHow article about How to Draw Graffiti Names.
I thought this was a fun article about graffiti. With multiple categories (article-explaining what the page is about, steps, video, tips, warnings, and things you'll need) explain the various aspects that go into graffiti art. Even though most of the information is applied to outdoor use, it would be awesome if you used the concepts with interior design principles for inside spaces.

Personally I wouldn't like this in my house, but it is a great example of how paint can be used in unusual ways (solid black on the ceiling, grunge looking red & black on the floor with cool typography). The furniture also compliments the paint design.

DEFACED by Lorcan Finnegan

A short film exploring the relationship between art and corporate advertising in public space. I think graffiti as and ad is an interesting concept to consider. What is a street artist trying to say? Who is their audience? Does the location of the art have anything to do with the piece? It depends for every artist of course, but these are some interesting questions to think about when you see street art.

Here is a lamp made of a recycled spray paint can. This would be a nice addition to a modern workspace, to give a little spice and to a cluttered more creative workspac because it goes with the flow. I am always on the look out for cool pieces to put in my room. This one is a little over my price range however.

Having a few tattoos of my own I am always interested to see other people's ideas and designs. Tattoos are a great way to express yourself creatively with your beliefs, values, experiences, or just what you find visually appealing, through permanent ink. So check out these truly off the canvas pieces of art by Banksy. (don't go past the girl being lifted by balloon tattoo...it is just hello kitty and an assortment of other tattoos that are not related to what I am talking about)
