Culture Eats Strategy For Breakfast

Culture Eats Strategy For Breakfast | Leadership | Scoop.it

Culture eats strategy for breakfast, technology for lunch, and products for dinner, and soon thereafter everything else too. Why? Because company culture, a concept pioneered by Edgar Schein, is the operationalizing of an organization’s values. Culture guides employee decisions about both technical business decisions and how they interact with others. Good culture creates an internal coherence in actions taken by a very diverse group of employees.

J'aime beaucoup ces propos :

"“You can’t complain here,” Tamara explained. “If you see something wrong, you must fix it. We say it is a great opportunity to come up with a solution, and this is where many of our best programs have come from. Anything can be changed. We aren’t victim to anyone. We own the culture.”"

Sandeep Gautam's curator insight, June 11, 1:23 AM

Culture matters and it matters immensely!

Tobias Beckwith's curator insight, July 14, 11:27 AM

This seems to be a theme for my day... this is the third place I"ve encountered the idea, and it's not even 9am yet. When we seek to create change in the world, all too often we ignore the most powerful thing working against us - the culture in which we're working. So how can you work with that? Make your change "fit" the culture? Find ways to change the culture itself?

4 Keys To A Corporate Culture That Drives Customer And Organizational Success

4 Keys To A Corporate Culture That Drives Customer And Organizational Success | Leadership | Scoop.it
An intentionally created corporate culture is the only advantage in business that can't be imitated. Here's why this is true–and how to build a powerful company culture for yourself, in four or so steps.

Why is a strong corporate culture so hard to copy? In some cases, it’s a lack of knowledge. But the knowledge needed is hardly top secret. So what really protects a company culture from knockoff artists? The answer is your competitors’ entirely predictable inability to focus beyond the short term.

3 Ways To Strengthen Your Bench Of Next Generation Leaders

3 Ways To Strengthen Your Bench Of Next Generation Leaders | Leadership | Scoop.it
The value of a life is always measured by how much of it is given away. At the end of one’s life, we celebrate the selflessness not the title, status, or accumulation. Selflessness is what makes our lives truly bigger than ourselves. If your leadership is all about you, it ends when you come to an end but if your leadership isn’t all about you, it will live beyond you.

Jerry Busone's insight:

A huge reason why training leaders and developing them form the ground up is needed. A quote for the article "ore concerning is that nearly 60 percent of those surveyed trust a stranger significantly more than they trust their boss," More important the study goes on "58 percent of managers in the study said they hadn’t received any management training when they began managing others." Its imperative that leaders all receive the core skills needed I'm impact change, engagement and trust that lead to hi performance. Putting people in a jobs before they get core skills training on communication and influence is in my opinion malpractice.

Lisa McCarthy's curator insight, September 22, 5:24 AM

An “insightfully aware” leader has a profound and clear understanding of his or her purpose and the reasons behind it. Self-awareness of values helps leaders to reflect upon their emotions, goals, needs and motives. Individuals who are able to identify and articulate their values will generate meaningful insights about how they see themselves, the circumstances they face, the behaviours they display, and their potential reactions to specific situations. Comprehending their values (personal, work and organisational) enables leaders to know and accomplish what they believe is important.
