“Palazzo Tommaso Campanella”, seat of the utmost elective assembly of this region, is “the House of Calabrian people” .
We have desired to rename it by using this expression for testifying the deep bond existing among this institution, the territory and the regional community.
In this sense, the fact to have organized the laboratory here is a way to further rejoin the relationship between Calabria and the Bronzes, who are one of the symbols of this region and of Italy in the world.
The Regional Council not only has placed its own hall at the Museum’s disposal.
But also, in a wider, effective and profitable institutional joint work, the Regional Headquarters has entered into an agreement with the Archaeological Superintendence of Calabria to arrange for a systematic commitment of the Legislative Assembly.
We provided any useful logistic support and – through a specific Regional law of 2003 – we financially supported this deserving cultural action plan, allocating some surplus funds of the Regional Council budget.
During the closing of the Piacentinian seat, the presence of the Bronzes, the Dioscures, the Head of a Philosopher, the Basilea Head, the Marafioti Group, the Museum Library and of some highly-precious sarcophagi in the ‘Palazzo Campanella’ is of great importance to us.
Not only for the inestimable value of these Magna Graecia art treasures, which carry us to the roots of our civilization. But also, and above all, because all of these things strengthen the image of a Regional Council which would like to keep on distinguishing itself for dignity, rigour and reliability.
This is the pattern and the line of an event that has showed how it is possible to achieve great goals even in Calabria, by working all together and letting the Calabrians’ pride be increasingly stronger than a widespread prejudice.
President of the Regional Council of Calabria
