New Facebook News Feed: How To Optimize Your Facebook Page Content | Ken's Odds & Ends | Scoop.it
Here's your ultimate resource for what you should do to prepare for the news feed changes on your Facebook page. It's all about visual content now!
Ken Morrison's insight:

1) Be more visual

2) Keep Text concise for photos because text will be above photos now

3) LIkes & Shares will be more important than ever.  Be funny or controversial, run giveaways, ask fans to share content

4) Location-based.  Encourage people to check in

4) Improve your cover phto
5) Post about trending topics.  If you are talking about what is trending, your logo may be highlighted with these tending topics

6)  The new Lists feature will allow people to see a newsfeed of ever page they follow.  That part will be like Twitter.  So you should update more often to make sure your brand is near the top.

Ken Morrison's curator insight, March 11, 2013 1:45 PM

We need to change again.  This author has a good book named "Stand Out On Facebook", and she offers these updates for every major change.  This is good advice.  I think that the carrot of having your brand connected with trending topics will cause people to dumb down their posts and try to get a free ride to attract many likes by people who may not stick around long.  Marketers will have to be wise about what trends they try to associate themselves with to attract likes by people who will stay connected to a page.

Also, some businesses are MUCH more location-based friendly.  There are some great businesses and great Facebook pages that simply won't get people to check in.  It would be unnatural, yet, that will hurt their Facebook clout if nobody checks in.

I guess that it is a good reminder of this quote:  ""People who don't like change, will like being irrelevant even more."

An Eye on New Media

An Eye on New Media | Ken's Odds & Ends | Scoop.it

Welcome to 'Ken's Odds and Ends'. Click this link to go to my 'real' site.

Let me be the first to tell you that this "Odd's and Ends' site is not a polished Scoop.it Page. It is the 'waiting room' or 'overflow room' for my primary Scoop.it page which you can find here:
http://www.scoop.it/t/new-media-technology

The focus of that site is New Media in Society, Business & Classrooms

This site reflects those interests as well as some other scoops that don't fit directly into nice little boxes under the 'new media' umbrella.

Ken Morrison's insight:

I am trying to streamline my primary site.  Oddz and Endz is kind of an overflow of this original site but will have content that doesn't fit into nice little  boxes under the 'New Media' flag

Biologist Timothy Mousseau has been studying the lasting effects of radiation on the flora and fauna of Chernobyl, Ukraine. “This level of chronic exposure is above what most species will tolerate without showing some signs, either in terms of how long they live or in the number of tumors they have, or genetic mutations and cataracts,” Dr. Mousseau said. “It’s a perfect laboratory setting for us.”
