QIU NINGYU's comment, May 20, 4:53 AM
It had been forty years ever since the movie Jaws were shown in the cinemas around the world. The scary image of sharks attacking innocent humans were deeply engraved into the brains of many since then. However, few of us knows that the chance of human getting into an shark attack is even smaller than getting struck by lightning. There are only about 10 fatalists around the world every year because of shark attacks as compared to 25000 because of dog attacks. On the other hand, sharks are already endangered because of poaching. Not only that, the killing process of sharks are extremely inhumane. All the fins are removed mercilessly, the body is then thrown back to the sea as they are worthless. The shark with the fins all removed will lose the ability to swim and live, it will sink to the bottom of the sea bleed to death or eaten alive by other animals. The dishes we had on our table is still delicious even without the presence of shark fins but without their fins, sharks can only wait for death. The most effective way is not government of different countries banning the trade of fins, it can only be a form of supplement as if there are still markets people will still carry out poaching activities. The only effective way is that people make no demand at all, no trading, no killing.
