Study of environmental stress response in coral genes has resulted in possiblities for re-growing and restoration among reefs. Correlations between temperature and water clarity were seen with the success of the allele's frequency. This information will be incorporated into my sub-section Restoration.

Coral reefs are early warning indicators of global imbalance. This material should help with relating the GBR to topics in oceanography as it discusses plate techtonics.

25 yrs of sst data is analyzed to determine high-temp anomalies. In some regions of the GBR, sst has increased quite a bit. This data can be used to document changes over time, and to determine if current and past conservation efforts have been successful. This will go under my subtopics Conservation and/or Climate Change.
