On Friday night, Jan. 13, 2012, a trumpet sounded outside the Museum of Modern Art at exactly 6 pm and a banner was unfurled by its front door, announcing the presence of Occupy Wall Street. Occupy Museums, a working group of OWS, had decided to take advantage of Free Fridays at the museum and enter the premises for a well-organized teach-in.

Tents and camping in Sarasota, Florida, are forbidden by Sarasota’s Draconian laws on public assembly. Because of those laws, the National Coalition for the Homeless lists Sarasota as American’s number 1 meanest city for the homeless. In the video below, this member of Occupy Sarasota describes how he was recently forced by Sarasota police to remove a tent he was using as a sign, even though he wasn’t using the tent to camp. First Amendment, anyone?
