Simple, Healthy Foods That Are Easy to Digest

Simple, Healthy Foods That Are Easy to Digest | Nutrition Today | Scoop.it
For those dealing with digestive difficulties, a plant-based diet can greatly improve not only nutrition, but also digestive health. Some foods, however, are easier to digest than others. Many are also full of extra benefits that further aid digestion. Here are some of our favorites!

Is your digestion causing you difficulties? Stress and food choices are the usual suspects.

Health Tips:  Simple ways to nourish your digestive tract involve starting to eat more plant based  whole foods,  limiting processed foods high in white flours, sugars, grains, avoiding alcohol and caffeine, swapping out healthier foods for less nutritional ones. Example eat sweet potatoes in place of fries. Eat half your lunch at a restaurant and bag the remainder for lunch the following day. Carry a treat bag  filled with nuts, seeds, cut up veggies, an orange or banana, or avocado for those sudden hunger urges. Make your swaps do-able, so you will follow through. And notice how you feel after you consume your food choices. Are you fatigued, bloated, gassy, or anxious?. Taking notice will help you to become more aware of foods that don't serve you.

The Life Extension Blog: The Great, Healthy Pumpkin

The Life Extension Blog: The Great, Healthy Pumpkin | Nutrition Today | Scoop.it

"Autumn is the season in which bright orange pumpkins begin to appear, most of which are creatively carved to serve as Halloween jack-o’-lanterns and discarded on November 1.

However, it's a mistake to consider this beneficial plant food as nothing more than a holiday decoration, or source of a sugar-laden pie. Pumpkins can provide a variety of benefits, as you'll soon see."

The Myth of Comfort Food

The Myth of Comfort Food | Nutrition Today | Scoop.it
The emotional healing powers of comfort food may be overrated.

"Feeling sad or stressed? Put down that Oreo or bowl of mac ’n’ cheese and brace yourself for another bummer: The emotional healing powers of comfort food may be overrated. True, your mood will probably improve shortly after you eat your favorite high-carb hug, but no more so than if you’d eaten a granola bar — a pleasant enough choice, but hardly a fixture in that calorically elevated “comfort food” category."
