Anastasia's insight:

All of us have read at least some article or heard about some statistic about how future generations will be gaining weight; however, the leading reason why those statistics get high up is because most people aren’t aware of how to eat properly. For example, a mom going grocery shopping may stumble upon a box in the refrigerator aisle of frozen food that reads “Healthy” or “Nutritious”. What she doesn’t know is that that box of the frozen food is NOT healthy what so ever! Anything found in that box lost its nutritional value just by having it cooked, then frozen, and reheated at home again. Purchasing raw food and cooking it ourselves is much healthier way to eat. Also, most families sip soda and pop drinks at dinner time, when instead, they could replace it by drinking water or juice instead. Why consume 3 times as many calories? In addition to nutritious eating, our health doesn’t only rely on what we eat in the kitchen, but also by our activity level. People should be active every day. Just by taking a 30 minute stroll mid- day is a great way to keep your energy levels up, and help achieve that healthy lifestyle!

Anastasia's insight:

Food is our best friend. Our body can’t function properly without a day of consuming food. However, do we make the correct healthy choices of which foods we eat? What some people don’t care to realize is that not eating healthy can increase our risk of diseases such as heart disease. Instead of going for that greasy burger with fries at the family’s night out at a restaurant, go for the crispy salad that has twice as much nutritional value, keeping you full for a longer time. Nevertheless, at home everyone should make smart choices as well. When we go grocery shopping, skipping the aisles with cookies, chips, sweets, canned, and processed foods will benefit our inner body because those foods ruin our cardiovascular system. In its place, getting the living foods that haven’t been yet cooked and demolished of their full nutritional value will calm our circulatory system and nourish cells. Learning and accomplishing simple replacements like that will bring each and every one of us one step closer to adapting to healthy eating and furthermore, healthy living.

Anastasia's insight:

Eating healthy and consuming a lot of fruits and vegetables is one thing, but is our body really receiving all its vitamins and nutrients it needs? No. We are the ones responsible for providing our body with the full amount of vitamins it needs to satisfy its full health. Next time, you go to a drug store, or a grocery store, look at the vitamin section to buy a bottle of multi-vitamins instead of a bag of chips or the cheap candy off the last minute rack in front of the cash register. Including additional vitamins such as Vitamin E, Vitamin D, and B Vitamins are good for not only our body’s health, but for our mental health as well. Additionally, some minerals that work great for our mind are magnesium, zinc, and chromium. Just by paying more attention to including these small vitamins and minerals in our nutritional health, they’ll help both our corporal and mental health at every phase in our lives.
