Working out is great, but nutrition is much more important than that, about 80% more important. What goes into your body is going to have a bigger impact on how you look, feel and your over all performance whether you believe it or not. Whether you are a body builder, or you are just looking to maintain a healthy weight, eating right should be above everything else. There is about a 80:20 rule when it comes to fitness, meaning what goes into your mouth accounts for 80% of how you look. Next time you go to pick up that slice of pizza or get that scoop of ice cream because "you just worked out so hard", think about what you are doing; not only are you erasing everything you just did at the gym completely, but you are slowing your system down, and that is why you can't get rid of that extra weight on your mid section or your thighs. (ladies!!!!) Every nutritionist has their own opinion on what "eating healthy" is, but we all know it revolves around the same ingredients, fruits, vegetables, proteins, little to no processed foods (that's right no chips, cereal or bread) and healthy portion sizes for your body type.
The backround I have chosen is a picture of myself over a five month time frame when I decided to go to, and stick with clean eating. I did nothing different with my work out regiment. This personal example shows that nutrition is key in order to look and feel your best, and also get the most out of your over all performance. I would never tell anyone to do something I have not myself done, and just by the paleo lifestyle and clean eating, to date, I have lost: 25 pounds, 10 inches, and 14% body fat. This is a huge leap for my health and performance as an athlete. Results do not show over night, keep working at it and you will get there!!
