Nursing Job Descriptions

Within the nursing career there are many paths to take in choosing an area to specialize in. For example, there are higher levels of nursing and go up to prescribing medicine which I find very interesting. In addition, there are certain fields and illnesses a nurse can focus on as well as location and age. All of this information is extremely important to me because while beginning to look into nursing, I need to be aware of options I have within the program.

This article will be of good use to me in the future to look at once I have to start deciding. Another important fact this article brought up was that nurses are a key component in the health care system, and because there is a shortage of nurses, the need will continue to grow. I feel comfortable now going ahead with this choice because I can see how helpful and rewarding this career will be to me.

This article talks about severeal different types of nurses. I learned about some that I would not be interested in such as a legal nurse, gerontological nurse or forensics nurse. Some I might be intersted are ER nurse, OR nurse, nurse anesthesits or a Nurse Practitioner. I learned that Nurse Practitioner which I could see myself doing, is the most advanced nurse. There are many types of nurses all with very different duties and working environments.

Job Description of a Hospital Nurse

This article was a perfect one for me to look at because I am applying for the nursing program. It showed me both the benefits and consequences of being a nurse. Since I am not completely sure that I want to be a nurse, this was a perfect way to see the basics of the job.

I learned what the steps for training and education are for becoming a nurse, and I feel prepared to take them. I also am happy to see the option of a master’s degree in order to move further in the work if I do love it. Something I didn’t know about this job was what working in a hospital would be like and I’m glad the article brought that part up. It will be important to think about the hard work this will require as I continue looking in this direction.

Finally, employment for nursing will increase, and our world will always have a demand for nurses. This fact is especially important to keep in mind because I will have to be secure for life with my career.
