Ken Robinson, Sugatra Mitra, Daphne Koeller, etc.

Marco Bertolini :-)

The Real Revolution Is Openness, Clay Shirky Tells Tech Leadersl

The Real Revolution Is Openness, Clay Shirky Tells Tech Leadersl | Nouveaux paradigmes |

Mr. Shirky took that message to a group of higher-education-technology leaders who have been buffeted by a rapidly evolving ed-tech landscape. Mr. Shirky, in a keynote speech kicking off this year’s Educause conference, explored how technology was changing everything, from research to publishing to studying.

I feel that the real revolution lies in the openness to transform oneself. Dan, thanks, For you I am slowly getting a handle on Scoop it.
Jason Brunson's curator insight, December 22, 2012 4:37 PM

How we educate everyone, from kids to adults, is going to change.  I think Mr. Shirky nailed it that openess is the revolutionary part of that change.

lowering friction reduces costs, creates more opportunity. apply this to social good as a horizontal methodology, applied to the sharing economy. creates resilience, abundance of flexible resources in reserve for transitions and shocks.

A collaborative flipbook seems like a great idea. I think I will try Haiku Deck today.

Jordan Funke's curator insight, June 11, 2014 12:08 PM

This presentation details six highly creative and technology based ways that teachers could incorporate design into their classroom, and use it for assessment. The ideas are as follows: flipbooks, mindmaps, photoquotes, infographics, flashcards and social bookmarking. I like this article a great deal because it in itself is a great example of using technology to design a visually appealing presentation that presents information in a more creative and user-friendly way. It is a designed solution to the problem of getting readers to engage with your content in an information-saturated society!

A good starting point for I-pad apps and usage for educational purposes. Great to have the links. As always the first step in a journey that has many twists and turns. It takes you where you want to go but there are many pathways you can take and who knows where they will lead you!Sometimes it's the journey that is important not just the destination.

Audrey's comment, August 16, 2013 8:05 AM
This is so helpful. As a visual learner I can see how the wheel can be used for home schooling. It is a fantastic resource for contextualising learning.
Mary Coghlan's comment, August 19, 2013 8:11 PM
I really like how this is presented. A great approach that presents a number of choices to be used for teaching and learning. Being a visual learner, I find this very accessible.

Sense & sustainability, Educating for a circular economy (PDF)

"this book sets a major challenge to educators and educational establishments by not only introducing the principles of sustainability to students but also seeking to change the way schools and colleges approach education and view themselves in the context of the local community and society in general."
