Tammy Morley's curator insight, January 8, 10:32 PM

Love the idea of flipped learning - so much potential.

Alfredo Corell's curator insight, January 20, 9:25 AM

The Flipped Classroom approach is been widely implemented in schools and colleges around the world. It is even considered as one of the greatest achievements of 21st century education.

The concept behind it is to reverse the traditional classroom practices with the aid of technology. Students access the already prepared lecture materials at home, in advance of the class and in the class they engage in structured class activities to work through problems with their teachers’ help, further their knowledge and learn through collaboration with fellow students. For the Flipped model to be successful, teachers before its implementation need to assess whether it is appropriate for their curriculum and students. They need to see if their students will be receptive to the new learning environment and upon implementation and use, teachers should employ effective practices to keep the model functioning successfully.

Sharla Shults's curator insight, January 28, 6:20 PM

Flipped classroom is a classroom in which students view the lecture components of the class at home, then work with the teacher in class on projects and what previously would have been called homework.

What a flipped classroom model does?
• Students watch lectures at home at their own pace, communicating with peers and teaching via online discussions.
• Concept engagement takes place in the classroom with the help of the instructor.

The Elements Of A Digital Classroom [Infographic] | Notícias TICXEDU | Scoop.it
What are the components of a digital classroom?

What are the components of a digital classroom? From eBooks to smartboards, iTunesU implementation to online learning, the classroom as we know it is changing.

It’s true that a digital classroom is a vague idea. And subjective–one educator’s cutting edge learning laboratory is the next educator’s been there, done that.

The following infographic looks at some of the more common elements of a digital classroom, including:

- eBooks
- Book rental via Kindle
- iPads
- Open Source software
- iTunesU
- Digital cameras, projectors, and headphones

The ART Of Collaboration (Collaborative Behaviours)

The ART Of Collaboration (Collaborative Behaviours) | Notícias TICXEDU | Scoop.it
If people are given the right tools and the right environment, will they spontaneously collaborate and share knowledge? Why do some people find it difficult to share and collaborate? Would incentives and rewards make a difference?

Collaboration in the workplace is now high on the priority list of many organisations seeking to leverage social technologies to free-up knowledge and provide opportunities for co-creation, co-production and innovation.

Gust MEES: I was one of the TOP10 Knol authors (Google Knol discontinued its service as on May 1, 2012) and I was involved in a lot of collaborative articles with multicultural authors and it was a very positive experience... I hope one day having the same opportunity back again on WordPress now...

One of our "old knols" (created on  November 02, 2010 [we were pioneers]) is being migrated to WordPress here if you would like to check it:

Today, computer involment in classroom is immence. We have e-learning lesson plans, enhahced with WEB.2 tools for immediate reaction. I know I have created a rich learning event when all my students are engaged in arguing about the best approach to the assignment. When we use questions and problems that allow for multiple strategies to reach a successful outcome, then we can speak that we gave students the opportunity to make choices and then compare their approaches. This strategy challenges them to operate at a higher level of thinking than when they can share only the "correct" answer. And this is only possible in class.

Five Ways to Bring High-Tech Ideas into Low-Tech Classrooms

Five Ways to Bring High-Tech Ideas into Low-Tech Classrooms | Notícias TICXEDU | Scoop.it

Even the most wired classrooms know the screeching silence of that great technological dis: “Unable to Connect to Server.” It’s the 21st century classroom’s equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. But whether you’re trying to connect kids to learning in a fully loaded classroom or one with no technology – or even if it’s at the kitchen table during homework time – high-tech ideas can translate and be relevant in low-tech environments.

More than just stop-gap measures for tech-less teaching environments, these no-tech ideas can actually help students deepen their digital literacy by giving them an opportunity to see, explore, and understand the parts and purpose of the digital media they take for granted – tweets and status updates, for example – by recreating them in an analog context. Here are five simple ways to help students tap into learning using high-tech ideas and low-tech tools (i.e. pen, paper, brain).

How To Design Your Own Infographics

How To Design Your Own Infographics | Notícias TICXEDU | Scoop.it
Infographics seem to be a real trend today, with new ones popping up daily on all sorts of subjects.

Infographics seem to be a real trend today, with new ones popping up daily on all sorts of subjects. From mortgages to ice cream, estimating software to infographics about infographics, there is very little now that hasn't been 'visualised' in some form. Many people don't realise that the term information graphic, or 'infographic' was first coined over 100 years ago, with the Coxcomb chart by Florence Nightingale in 1857 being one of earliest recognised examples. They have existed in many forms since then, but only in the past few years have infographics developed into the art form we know today.
