Social Media Statistics and Trends for South America | Social Media Podcast for Social Business by Shane Gibson Speaker and Author

Social Media Statistics and Trends for South America | Social Media Podcast for Social Business by Shane Gibson Speaker and Author | Northern America and South America Ethan and Alex | Scoop.it
I'm writing this blog entry here in my hotel in Bogota Colombia. I'm here speaking on social media marketing for an international congress on sales and marketing. I thought I would share some of the results from the research I had done on social media in South America: South America and Mobile Social Networks: South America ( and other regions like Africa and South East Asia )has the potential in my opinion to leap frog North America's lead in the social media space with mobile internet applications.  As more and cheaper smart phones hit the market here it will quickly ramp up the number of active users on social networks.  North Americans have adopted social media primarily through the web browser on their computer, it wasn't really until recent introductions of the iPhone, and smarter Nokia's and Blackberry's that we really began to network and create social media in a mobile fashion. North Americas still working on un-tethering tehmselves from phone and cable lines.  South Am

We chose this article because it demonstrated the  growth of social interactions between countries, and people within the internet. This article talks about the growing opportunities that South America has to,"upgrade their software," and move to digital networking, phones and computers. On seeing that South America has little interaction  with computers or the internet compare that with what experience the US has with these things and what our society would look like without it?

This article is about South America's social features. It is about South America's social media statistics and trends for South America

Canada: City of Trail offering free broadband connection to downtown businesses | The Boundary Sentinel

Canada: City of Trail offering free broadband connection to downtown businesses | The Boundary Sentinel | Northern America and South America Ethan and Alex | Scoop.it

The City of Trail is offering free fibre connection to downtown Trail businesses until March 31, 2014. The connection, approximately a $1,500 value, will allow businesses to connect to the new high-speed fibre optic network slated to become available in early 2014.

Service plans and fees will need to be determined and negotiated with a local, qualified Internet Service Provider (ISP) of their choice. The purpose of the new high-speed fibre optic network, which is owned by the Columbia Basin Broadband Committee (CBBC) and the City of Trail, is to provide superior, business-grade broadband at a competitive price.

“Acquiring business-grade broadband in our area is all about economic development,” says Don Freschi, chair of the Trail Broadband Committee and general manager of Community Futures. “This level of broadband is a necessity for large-scale technical companies, but can also improve the level of service for all businesses, whether it’s speeding up customer transaction time, videoconferencing with clients or improving business operations. Not only can all our local businesses benefit from this technology, but it’s also a huge attractant for growing high-tech companies wanting to set up shop in our city.”
