Boomers.  This photo doesn't do us justice!  I'm simply not that old, yet I'm firmly one.  Not sure if I'm your perfect target donor, but others of my ilk seem to be.

I'm a big fan of Dan Ariely's work. "Predictably Irrational" is a terrific read for any leader. This piece posted to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation site speaks directly to nonprofits and their messaging assumptions.

What a great post that reminds us what is most important in our business storytelling and how to achieve it -- whether it be in fundraising, sales, or marketing.

Are you following the Golden Theme? The Golden Theme for stories is: we are all the same.

If you can express the Golden Theme and do what the author Eric Foley suggests, you will have the Midas touch.

Non-Profit Storytelling for Fun and Fundraising

Non-Profit Storytelling for Fun and Fundraising | non profit trends | Scoop.it

Did you know that every good non-profit fundraiser is a storyteller?  As development professionals, we cast real life stories for donors that excite and intrigue.  We show the world as it is, and as it could be, and then ask our listeners/prospects to jump right into the story and take the reins by investing in our vision for the future.

At least, that’s the way fundraising should be.  So often, though, we get mired in the details… the time and date of the next event, the prospect universe for our upcoming direct mail piece, the conversion rate for our website “donate now” button… that we forget to dwell in the story.
