Turn your bar, theatre or nightclub into a venue for conferences and meetups

Turn your bar, theatre or nightclub into a venue for conferences and meetups | special events | Scoop.it
Conference hosting is an extremely lucrative business and an industry in it's own right. While your bar or nightclub is sitting empty in the day, you could be generating extra revenue by turning it into a venue for business events.

Cori Eisele's curator insight, November 4, 2013 12:19 PM

This was a very good article targeted toward bar, theatre, and nightclub owners with a how-to on turning their venue into a place that can be used for exectutive events such as conferences, meetups, and the like. The how-to points were very weel written out with little problems with understanding it. The author went in-depth when needed to sort out some points and left others alone if they were "self-explanitory".

The source seems to be quite credible as the author's information is very well presented at the bottom of the page, the site provides up-to-date information, and the article is linked to other articles of the same topic posted on the site, either by the same author or others.

How To Structure Your Fundraising Story

How To Structure Your Fundraising Story | special events | Scoop.it

In writing fiction, there is a technique known as the ‘story spine’ that outlines the various components and flow of a typical narrative arch. Over the years, I developed the following ‘fundraising project story spine’ to help gather information needed to create these snapshot-style overviews.

Love this simple, direct and very helpful article on how to structure a fundraising story! This applies to both nonprofits, and to businesses seeking to raise cash.

Thanks Gregg Morris for sharing this article.

It’s Official—it’s ridiculous | The Eight Principles | special events | Scoop.it

Seth Godin, in the recent Gala Economics posting on his blog, stated directly and unabashedly that fundraising galas, auctions and other transactional fundraising vehicles are a “ridiculous way. . .to raise money for a good cause.”  Seth was speaking as both management guru and philanthropist.  He even went further saying that we can agree on this fact.  I certainly do.  However, a lot of fundraisers apparently don’t

The 5 Most Important Things to Look For When Choosing an Event Venue

The 5 Most Important Things to Look For When Choosing an Event Venue | special events | Scoop.it
When planning an event, a venue shouldn't be a yes-or-no checkbox on a to-do list. More than a simple roof over the heads of your guests, it sets the stage for the atmosphere you're attempting to create, and can entice donors to produce their wallets and attendees to enjoy themselves just as much as music or food selection. With all the variables at hand, however, finding the right fit can make even the most seasoned event organizer feel a little like Goldilocks -- this hall's too big, this kitchen is too small, these walls are too...purple. Here are five of the most important considerations to keep in mind when selecting your venue: Continue here : http://blog.evenues.com/post/2013/01/31/The-5-Most-Important-Things-to-Look-For-When-Choosing-an-Event-Venue.aspx

10 Tips for an Awesome Coffee Meeting

10 Tips for an Awesome Coffee Meeting | special events | Scoop.it
If the concept of a coffee meeting is foreign to you, you only have to remember one guiding principle: never, ever waste the other person’s time. They are providing their time, their most precious resource. The good news is that the bar for coffee meetings is pretty low. Most creatives can likely tell you of meetings that started with “lets grab coffee” and ended in an unproductive conversation. However, you’re better than that, dear reader. Here’s how to be the best coffee meeting participant around.

Corporate Event Planning: Working with Speakers and Facilitators

Corporate Event Planning: Working with Speakers and Facilitators | special events | Scoop.it
With experience in keynote speaking, event planning and facilitating team building and training, I have an opportunity to "sit on both sides of the desk." I thought that there might be some value in exchanging tips for working with keynote speakers as well as team building and training and development facilitators. Form a consulting partnership with speakers and facilitators, rather than approaching the relationship as "order taking." We have previously discussed "consulting vs order taking" as it relates to event planners. Experienced speakers and facilitators also bring a lot of expertise to the table that can help you improve your event.
