Foursquare launches tool to visualize your check-ins | About Foursquare | New Media Technology | Scoop.it

Just in time for 4sqDay, Foursquare has launched a new “Your Year in Check-ins” tool for users to visualize their check-ins. Foursquare’s new tools is a neat way to visualize your check-ins and better understand the relationships between them. What do you think of the tool?

Hangyu Lee's insight:

In Foursquare day, Foursquare had launched a new check-in tool for users to visualize their check-ins. It shows the massive amounts of data Foursquare has about where we go and how those places are connected.

Ken Morrison's comment, April 14, 2013 6:24 AM
Hi Hangyu
I agree with many aspects of this article. However, I think that it ignores the simple concept of data mining. Google will do anything and go anywhere to collect data. They are excited to have self-driving car that collect information and human beings with data collectors on their face (Google Glasses). Any time that I don't understand what Google is doing, I simply ask myself, "How will this help Google collect more information." I learned today that Google even monitors and measures the behaviors of how people choose their drinks in their cafeteria. They had a sample test of moving water and sodas around to measure how product placement would effect how many workers chose different drinks. They love to collect data. It is in their veins and culture.
Thanks for sharing this interesting link. I had not seen it yet. Also, Business Inisider is a good resource for you.
