This semester I make a scoop. It accounts for keeping an eye on new media technology. I decide to focus on new media because I’m really interesting about this area. I’m not an innovator but I’m sill an early adopter. I’m a heavy apple user, and also keeps paying attention to any great startup companies which produce brand new technologies. Since 2008 I have used lots of new media services. I used Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr, Vimeo, Twitter, Path, Foursquare. They are different types of technologies that represent myself to the virtual world. All of those services are really helpful for me, so I’m really happy to try brand new services like those. I should keep an eye on the new media technology.
I subscribed some Korean opinion leaders in the new media area to follow trends and issues. Also I followed some leaders on Twitter, I got a lot of new information from the Korean Foursquare group. I was a photographer for that group last year, so now I still have some connection with great people in there. I followed and subscribed them and got brand new data from them. Even left some comments and had a communication with them. What I learned from them, new media is totally world wide thing. We share same news and the same idea. If Foursquare signed with Yelp to promote new services, or if Yahoo bought Tumblr, at the same time even same hour they share same news and insights and ideas. It is quite impressive for me. New media Time is exactly the same all over the world.
I have some steps for Scoop. It and Google plus. For me I already have main homepage which is monologyu.com (powered by NHN Corp.) Also I have great communication tools like Facebook page and Twitter. Even I promote my content to Foursquare, Path, Tumblr, I think I have enough social network services. But Scoop. It and Google plus is quite different with those what I’m using. I made a great curating tool in Scoop. It page, I can gather interesting news, insights, and created them. Also Google plus is another great social network to promote myself. I’m still using Facebook more than Google plus. But it helped me a lot to connect with great people who doesn’t use Facebook.
I will keep an eye on the new media. Also I’ll use Google plus for great network and Scoop. It (or other good curating services) for gathering information and categorize them.
